🏡💰The luxury London pads getting Healey’s energy handout @SimonHuntCityAM and I spent a glorious few hours trawling through property sites - and it transpires a load of palatial homes will benefit from Healey's £100 bung. Other, less affluent areas will miss out. Link below.

So eligibility is based on the value of your home 35 years ago and this is going to cost taxpayers' £2.6 billion. Doesn't sound like the most efficient system...
NEWS ENERGY PAYMENT: £100 payment to all households in Council Tax bands A to D for England (and funding for same in other nations). That's 20m homes. Translation: This is the support for the huge rise due in January price cap. Its expected to be 27% up. Which equates to roughly £100 from Jan to March alone.

The real yardstick for "breathing space" -- the OBR projects real earnings growth will fall to 0 over the next couple of years.

The architectural destruction...of a 90s-era Homebase + a car park.
I will never agree with anyone who says this is progress. It is the architectural destruction of our country.

The UK’s problem in a nutshell is that we are amazing at announcing projects but terrible at actually building them My piece from earlier this year on what gets in the way
Billions of pounds lost on a single project because we can’t connect it to the grid for half a decade and have destroyed our capacity to generate reliable electricity.

Today I went to a select committee hearing on AI. A few interesting things came out of it, but what really stuck with me was the behaviour of the MPs They weren’t paying attention At one point I counted 6 of the 13 MPs on the committee looking at their phones. And not in that way you do when you’re quickly checking something - two stared at their phones for over half an hour. Several others left before the end Many people think AI is the most important thing in the world. The MPs were warned there was a 50/50 chance it might destroy humanity! You’d think that’d be enough to make you take your chance to listen to experts and key players on the topic - apparently not

This is good to see and is a pro-growth policy. Lots of people who are on good wages but not wealthy face absurdly high marginal tax rates due to these cliff edges. They're unfair and a massive disincentive to work.

Feels like there’s something quite psychologically profound about daring to take on the triple lock and finding that the planes don’t fall from the skies, the horsemen remain in the stables etc. You can take on vested interests and the stakeholder state and it’s good!

The problem with the popularity of Martin Lewis, as an economic advisor for the masses, is that it reflects a stagnant economy and, consequently, an economic ethos geared towards extracting more from a fixed pie instead of trying to make the pie bigger.
