TEMPE — The boo birds were out. Again. The noise of home displeasure, scarce during the first three years of head coach Kenny Dillingham's tenure, was back. Arizona State led Kansas State by four points entering halftime, but an injury to sixth-year quarterback Mikey Keene thrust junior Cutter Boley, benched midway through an abysmal showing against Texas Tech last week, back onto the field. He took a half-ending sack on his first drive. For the third-straight home game, ASU fans let their team hear it. Rather than let the boos sit undisturbed in the warm October air, the Mountain America Stadium DJ fought for audio supremacy. "Trap Queen" by Fetty Wap boomed from the stadium's speakers. It drowned out the boos. It prophesied who would turn them to cheers. Story for @SunDevilSource: 247sports.com/college/arizon…

ASU Fans, do not lose your house for a motel. Kenny is the guy. You guys don’t understand bashing the only guy who would not leave for Michigan does us no good. If he were to leave you think you get somebody better? 1000% no and they won’t have the same love for the program since not being home grown. Humble yourselves. We have won 10 games once since I been in that building and that was Kenny bringing us a Big12 championship. Stop acting like we all high and mighty now. We are building and the build started in 2023 with a 3-9 team. DM the kids and tell them stay down and build a culture. Stop going in on Kenny.

True freshman RB Cardae Mack on his four-touchdown performance against Kansas State—the most by am ASU freshman RB since 2014: "I just let go and let God. ...They said if we got the hot hand, we was going to roll with the hot hand. ...It's a blessing." @SunDevilSource

Martell Hughes and Cardae Mack said they saw the video of a K-State player trash-talking ASU ahead of their win over the Wildcats today: "It's doing our jobs, not letting the outside noise get to us, just doing our jobs and trusting everybody else around us." @SunDevilSource

Hear from Kenny Dillingham after ASU's 28-17 win over Kansas State: piped.video/Yi1JfWdk3dM

Instant recap: The Sun Devils overcame a first-half injury to Mikey Keene, as RB Cardae Mack tied a freshman school record with four rushing touchdowns and freshman Jake Fette took over at QB in their 28-17 win over Kansas State. 247sports.com/college/arizon…

Kenny Dillingham noticed a difference in ASU's intensity on the sidelines against K-State, and Cardae Mack said it was a result of work and competition in practice: "We work hard every week in practice. And just to see it pay off today was truly a blessing."

Lots to be made from Sun Devil freshmen today but Julian Hugo quietly recorded his third-straight game with a sack. Last time an @ASUFootball true freshman did that? Terrell Suggs in 2000.

Kenny Dillingham said there was a noticeable difference in ASU's intensity on the sideline because the team felt disrespected, which he thinks was earned: "It's not a false disrespect. It's real. We've earned that. ...And now we've got to respond from it." @SunDevilSource

Kenny Dillingham said there are similarities between Cardae Mack and Cam Skattebo, but won't compare the true freshman to the NFL starter yet: "Their contact balance and their swipe move. ...he's got a long way to go. And a lot of steps to keep getting better."

"It's me and my team versus everybody who's against us." Kenny Dillingham on Cutter Boley being booed by ASU fans after being put in when Mikey Keene got injured: @SunDevilSource

Cardae Mack's four-TD performance against K-State is a microcosm of the impact ASU's true freshmen have had as of late: "A good amount of guys in there are young bucks that are making an impact early. ...we can recruit at a high level because there's an awesome fan base."

Jake Fette's can anticipate his first collegiate start at No. 2 BYU next weekend, Kenny Dillingham said, after he was put in mid-game and helped ASU to a win over KSU: "We just wanted the spark there with Jake... we felt like he gave us the best chance to win." @SunDevilSource

Kenny Dillingham on subbing freshman QB Jake Fette into the game: “Jake's got that look in his eye. Jake's got the swagger, you know, the confidence when he moves around, and so I think we just wanted to spark there with Jake.”

Kenny Dillingham said he anticipated that Jake Fette will start at BYU next Saturday barring Mikey Keene being healthy enough to play.

A proud Kenny Dillingham congratulating Jake Fette. ASU defeats KState 28-17 after playing three different QBs. Fette led the Sun Devils’ last two TD drives. @SunDevilSource

FINAL Arizona State 28 Kansas State 17 Freshman RB Cardae Mack rushed for four TDs and third-string freshman QB Jake Fette provided a second-half spark after Mikey Keene suffered a knee injury and Cutter Boley struggled to move the ball, as the Sun Devils improved to 4-3 (2-2).
