Unfortunately, universities are constitutionally incapable of self reflection, openness to change & strategic thinking. They vilify many who care deeply enough about them to speak out- an unhealthy situation.
A tsunami is coming headed squarely at the Higher Rd sector. Waking up sleeping large public universities is nearly impossible.

Tommy Carr believed he could do anything his brother could do, whether they were playing pickleball, stealing each other’s shoes or playing quarterback for CFB bluebloods. Now he gets a chance to show it. @PeteSampson_ and me on the Carr bros backstory nytimes.com/athletic/7714705…

Abdul is not the only Muslim to run for the Senate. Mehmet Oz ran in 2024. No one ran against Oz because he’s a Muslim. That’s because Oz didn’t call Israel Bloodthirsty. Oz didn’t write an oped urging support for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. Oz didn’t have donors who belonged to the MB. Oz didn’t blame terrorism on the policies of the US. And Oz didn’t justify a terrorist on a synagogue. This race isn’t about Abdul’s faith. It’s about his extremist ideas.
El-Sayed: "We had a little debate. Or I had a debate and he just pointed at me and said, 'He's Muslim.'"

Connor Stallions was spotted at a UM basketball game, it must be him, right?
In the past 15 years only 3 Big Ten basketball teams have played for a national championship: • Michigan — 3 • Wisconsin — 1 • Purdue — 1 Michigan has been carrying the Big Ten Conference for awhile now

It's over. The higher ed dam has broken: Clemson is offering a voluntary separation program (VSP) to 452 eligible faculty and staff. Eligible employees who accept the offer will receive a lump-sum payment equal to nine months of their base pay.

This Re-Post’s for the pride of Evansville, @elainemittleman!
Don Mattingly lasted until the 19th round in 1979 because teams figured he was going to Indiana State. The Yankees gave him $23,000 instead. Six years later he was the AL MVP with 145 RBI. In 1987 he hit six grand slams, a single season record, and homered in eight straight games to tie the major league mark. He won nine Gold Gloves at first base. The third pick in that draft, Jay Schroeder, became an NFL quarterback.

I agree Kevin O’Connell is a bright young coach, but hardly a QB Whisperer. His staff didn’t know how to support JJ at all despite making him their 1st Round choice. Compare how he does now w/John Harbaugh & the Giants. That’ll be the “tell.”
One thing that's laughable: Once Vikings gave up on JJ McCarthy, the narrative was if Kevin O'Connell didn't want him, he was never going to be any good. When did KOC become Bill Walsh? He got credit for Sam Darnold, but it was the year with Kyle Shanahan in SF behind Brock Purdy that turned around Sam's career. Shouldn't KOC at least win his first playoff game before he's considered some QB genius? Maybe he turns out to be right about McCarthy, but let's see how he does with @Giants. KOC is 5-0 in Minnesota this season because of Brian Flores's defense, not because of Kyler Murray and journeyman Carson Wentz. Remember, Giants OC Matt Nagy won 11 games with Mitchell Trubisky when he was Bears HC.

As much as I appreciate and respect JH as a great coach, he is very coordinator dependent. It’s going to be difficult to find another Mac/Minter level DC. Those guys were generational. I’m also not convinced Herbert is the Qb everyone thinks he is. Wish JH the best.

Hat tip to @DanaPerino who earlier today on @thefive said that Beirut used to be the Paris of the Middle East (until it was destroyed by Islam), and now Paris is the Beirut of Europe (because of Islam).
