YES is falling on the nine as the count progresses. Two have dipped below 50%, and only one of the options is over 55% at this point. So the end result is going to be a very underwhelming mandate to move on these.

Jeff Rath just made a remarkable allegation (yes, I know) on CTV this morning. He claims Danielle Smith bought the Wexit Party's contact list during her 2022 UCP leadership campaign and used it to recruit separatists who believed she was secretly one of them. #ableg #abpoli

"Smith welcomed the separatists, and today she’s still stuck with the party problem of her own devising. A performative referendum on her dilemma wasn’t worth $70 million. It isn’t worth 70 cents." #ableg #abpoli
That referendum sure wasn't worth the money, the division, the political goal of holding the UCP together. It was a political hoax. Column. calgaryherald.com/news/braid… #abreferendum #ableg #yyc #yeg #cdnpoli #abpoli

Albertans just spent tens of millions on a referendum Danielle Smith didn't need to hold. Now she's delivering another televised address. ATI records reveal her government authorized up to $160,000 for media buying associated with her last address in May. That's separate from a video-production contract worth up to $205,000. So what's tonight's address costing Alberta taxpayers? #ableg #abpoli
Albertans picked up a pencil yesterday and answered ten hard questions about our future. That is democracy at its finest and tonight we talk about what comes next. Join me live on CTV, Global, CityNews, Facebook, X or YouTube at 6:45pm— as we go through the referendum results, what they mean for this province, and what comes next.

So separatism was never a threat, Nenshi was hysterical for warning about it, and Smith deserves credit for defeating it? The same Smith who lowered the referendum threshold while worrying about separatists forming a rival party? Apparently separatism was dangerous enough to threaten Smith's political interests, but harmless enough that Albertans should have ignored it. #abpoli #ableg

Alberta separatists expected 40 - 60% support. They got 25%, exactly where the polls had them. Rick Bell says they spent the entire campaign talking to themselves.

Dear Friends, The Alberta provincial election will be in one year. By such time, I will have served as MLA for over 8 years and I will not be seeking re-election. Thank you to for supporting my efforts to seek freedom and prosperity for Albertans, a blessed land that we love.

Turns out there's a political price for running the premier's office like a concierge service for conspiracy theorists and separatists. #abpoli #cdnpoli

Either do mischief or journalism but not both and certainly don’t report on your own mischief and if you do then fucking own it honestly and maybe get some props for that rather than fundraising for years ($34,933! Using your kid’s drawing!) gofundme.com/f/duncan-kinney…

I dive into fresh polling on the Alberta referendum and model out the impact of Carney saying "no to the nine". Turns out Danielle Smith saying "yes to the nine" might do just as much to get Albertans to vote NO.

That all sounds impressive - and compared to the $9 billion deficit expected last year it’s an $11 billion+ swing. So why keep cutting payments to some with disabilities by $200 a month? #cdnpoli #abpoli
Alberta closed the books on 2025-26 with a $2.2 billion surplus and the Heritage Savings Trust Fund finished the year at a record high of more than $32 billion. We delivered that surplus in the same year we cut personal income taxes with a new 8% bracket, the lowest in the country. That put up to $750 back in the pocket of every Albertan and up to $1,500 back with the average family. The Heritage Fund is on track to reach $35 billion in 2027 and $250 billion by 2050. Every dollar of income stays in and compounds. That is a promise to Albertans who come next and keeping it is one of the most important things this government will ever do.
