Values have shifted radically. And Hollywood can’t quite figure out what true heroism is anymore. It used to be about self sacrifice, but that’s not the case in our increasingly narcissistic world. Go back and watch Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie. It’s like it was made in another time. Religion, Aunt May goes to church. Patriotism,Spider-Man with the American flag. And self sacrifice with Spider-Man saving random New Yorkers and MJ. If a new superhero movie contained those elements, it would be criticized.
i'm curious to see how avengers doomsday does this fall
mostly because my question is...
are we, as a culture, post the tony stark as icon moment
in other words, does gen-z see that life as aspirational?
who are the icons now and why do they matter?
