I thought politicians were supposed to be for the people. That is what we are told, right? Public servants. Servants to us, the people who actually pay the bills of this country with our sweat, our taxes, and our sacrifice.
But the reality feels like the exact opposite.
They serve themselves. They serve their donors, their lobbyists, and their insider buddies. Meanwhile, regular Americans are left with scraps.
When was the last time you saw a politician actually listen to the people? Not give a speech. Not send out some polished PR statement. Actually listen.
They show up during election season with fake smiles, shaking hands and making promises. Then once they get elected, it feels like the people who put them there suddenly do not exist.
Look at Congress. Democrats and Republicans. At some point the party label stops mattering when the same system keeps benefiting the people in power. We hear about stock trading, government contracts, lobbying, corporate loopholes, and politicians somehow becoming incredibly wealthy while ordinary Americans are told to tighten their belts when gas, groceries, housing, and everything else gets more expensive.
It is not just red versus blue anymore. It is the American people demanding accountability from the people who are supposed to represent them.
They write the laws. They control the spending. They create the loopholes. Then when Americans demand change, we are told to wait, be patient, and understand that change takes time.
Funny how change never seems to take very long when Washington wants something.
I am tired of politicians acting like royalty while Americans struggle to make ends meet.
They need to remember what public service means.
They need to remember who they work for.
And the American people have every right to remind them, loudly, clearly, and relentlessly, that we will not accept being ignored, used, or treated like pawns in somebody else’s game for power.
