Winning your game doesn’t always mean winning the weekend. Some of this week’s CFP odds swings were predictable. These were more interesting: 📉 Indiana, BYU and Notre Dame fell after wins. 📈 LSU and Alabama climbed on byes. 📉 UTSA and Houston fell on byes. BYU’s twist: the weekend’s results actually HELPED. But BYU’s strength rating slipped while Utah and Baylor improved, making its remaining schedule tougher. UTSA’s conference title odds barely moved. Its CFP odds fell 8.3 points as Boise State tightened its grip on the G6 spot. Your team’s result is only part of the story.

“Right back in the mix” might be an understatement! 👀 USC entered the weekend with just 6.7% modeled CFP odds. But beating #2 Ohio State was worth an enormous +19.1 percentage points in our pregame model. A loss would’ve pushed those odds down another 3.9 points. The Trojans went from staring at elimination to having a real reason to believe again. And it’s fascinating to see which OTHER results around college football helped or hurt USC today. Yes! A Georgia loss would actually boost LSU’s CFP odds by 1.0 percentage point! It ranks a little lower on our “importance” scale for two reasons: Importance considers both the impact of a result AND how likely it is. Our model gives Georgia a 90% chance of winning. There’s a trade-off! Georgia losing helps LSU’s SEC title path, but a Florida upset would also make the Gators a much bigger at-large threat (Florida’s at-large odds jump from 16.5% to 35.4%). So Florida is definitely the team to root for, but the competing impacts make the net benefit smaller than you might expect. That’s what makes this fun! Almost every game has implications for LSU, and you can explore them all on the site.
