Dont get me wrong, the hyper realism on the face models look nice but i dont like how fortnite changes its artstyles for IP's. Its like the game is adapting to the IP instead of adapting the IP to the game.

Epic does what they want without any regard for the community. They believe an explanation is not needed. We have seen it multiple times over. They give us shit, and we tolerate it.

Hey could you kindly pass this message along to the animations/movement team. The movement animations need a lot of polish, even if returning to state machines is completely off the table we would still appreciate it if the current animations could be less wobbly. Thank you

Motion Matching continuously calculates your character's direction vector. When you turn your camera instantly to build, the solver tries to simulate physical weight/momentum, forcing the mesh to squat and tilt into the turn. State Machines didn't do this鈥攖hey kept the character鈥檚 spine upright regardless of camera speed

A lot of build players(myself included) hate Ch5+anims because fast turns causes character models to awkwardly tilt, stretch or squat. Old vs new animations on the exact same freebuild: Notice how with the old animations, the player model is always upright with its feet planted.
Here is a thread of Fortnite movement "issues" I've noticed (updating as I find more). Some are fixable, while others are just inherent to motion matching. I really hope Epic brings back the OG animations (state machines) in Chapter 8. @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii @EpicTofuChris @HaroldAtEpic ---------------------------------------------------------------- 1. when changing directions, the character fully leans like is lost balance and the legs start scrambling.

From CH1-CH4, you could crouch sprint(which was on by default, and what everyone used) and you could crouch walk(significantly slower). From Chapter 5 onwards, they removed crouch sprinting as a mechanic completely, leaving players with the crouch walk speeds.

For all my OG movement glazers out there, please if someone dissagrees with our opinions, dont be calling them no cuss words or being agressive at all! Because this behaviour started all of this! Instead what you shoud do is try to explain motion matching etc.

No one is saying that it鈥檚 making their skill worse, but It鈥檚 a game ran by a billion dollar company, I think it鈥檚 reasonable to not want my character to wobble when I move.
If your letting an Animation change still effect you basically 3 years later then that is incredibly sad

Around chapter 4. Epic stopped seeing Fortnite as a video game but more as a platform for UEFN metaverse and a perfect place to demo Unreal engine features. The core battle royale is seemingly no longer top priority. This change in direction has led to -Transition from state machines(Og anims) to Motion matching(Ch5+ anims) - UI redesign, removal of rarities, etc - Continuous push of the discovery system - Shift in art style.
with all the talk around Fortnite going back to "wonky graphics" in the future, I just wanna say that I still believe THIS is easily the best this game has ever looked

Fortnite Movement System is BROKEN馃敶 馃敯Quick movements are impossible to be made since game mechanics slow you down to match animation motion 馃敯The animations can a lot of times glitch and look beyond weird, specially near structures 馃敯All unique Pick Axe walk animations you payed for are gone to allow "Motion Matching" 馃敯When switching weapons Motion Matching slows you down for a bit harming gameplay responsiveness 馃敯Switching weapons also make your character walk super weirdly 馃敯Any type of fast movement feels beyond clunky because it confuses the motion matching system 馃敯Ch1 - Ch4 used state matching system But ch5 - Ch 7 uses Motion Matching, causing this 馃敯Motion matching is ONLY used in Open World games... NEVER tactical shooter games 馃敯Videos are collected by: @Tragicfv WHY DID FORTNITE DO THIS?馃敶 馃敯Motion Matching was new to Unreal Engine 5 and Epic Games wanted to show it off, they chose Fortnite as the perfect place to make a demo of this feature and how exactly it works SO NO, this was never done because its good for the games future, it was never done as a useful evolution to Fortnite, addition of Motion Matching is purely UE5 advertisement How do we feel about Epic being willing to harm Fortnite gameplay for the sake of treating it as an Unreal Engine demo? 馃ゲ

If they listened to their community on this Fortnite would 100% see a player increase. Anyways I hope epic games makes the right decision and reverts 馃檹
