Picture a forest ranger deep in Korea's mountains. Injured, no cell signal, help 30+ minutes away just to report it.
Korea Forest Service is changing that. They're deploying 74 Starlink kits: 31 vehicle units and 43 backpacks. Each backpack is a 15 kg kit that one person sets up in ~5 minutes and runs ~8 hours.
In a test under heavy tree cover, it hit 162 Mbps and an internet phone reached 119 emergency services where regular phones had no signal. ๐ฒ๐ก
The goal: cut accident reporting from 30+ minutes to under 10, across ~300,000 hectares of forest with no reliable coverage. This comes after the March 2025 wildfires that killed 30 people.
This is Elon's vision: connectivity from the sky, so no one is ever truly out of reach.
