J.K. Rowling has published a new essay defending her views on the trans community and calling out trans activism in the 21st century for being "elitist." "My views haven't changed... what to me represents no change at all in my political or ideological outlook has, in recent years, seen me and women like me subject not only to criticism but also to death threats. This is because we oppose the current, dominant strain of trans activism, which holds that a man who declares himself a woman is, literally, a woman, and is therefore entitled to be treated as a woman in all contexts..." variety.com/2026/tv/global/j…

Paul Mescal and Daisy Edgar-Jones are defending NORMAL PEOPLE author Sally Rooney after her books were pulled from sale in the U.K. due to the author's support for Palestine Action, a pro-Palestinian group proscribed as a terrorism organization by authorities. “Sally Rooney is a writer, not a terrorist. Her books must be available to the public... Their withdrawal from sale, on the basis of ill-conceived and draconian anti-terror legislation, is an affront to basic principles of free speech and expression so long taken for granted in this country. We categorically reject censorship..." variety.com/2026/tv/news/pau…

"John Wick 3" and "Billions" star Asia Kate Dillon says acting jobs have "all but diminished” after 11 years in the industry, so they are now seeking customer service work. "I love customer service. I love creating welcoming environments for people to relax in and connect with each other. I love food and drink. I am passionate and curious, and a great teammate. I imagine the hurdle to reentry will be learning the new POS systems, but I’m a quick study. I’m available for part time, night and weekend work." variety.com/2026/tv/news/bil…

“Glee” is back! Disney+ and Hulu have greenlit a reboot of Ryan Murphy’s musical dramedy series. • Casting information is not yet known, though it can safely be assumed that several of the original stars will return. • Murphy recently revealed that he finished the script for the reboot. “I just finished the script an hour ago,” he told Entertainment Tonight. “So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something. I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHYUU

“Orange Is the New Black” and “Billions” star Asia Kate Dillon says they are looking for service work after their acting work “has all but diminished”: “When I was fifteen, I got my first job in food service,” they wrote. “I continued working in food and general customer service, alongside any acting gigs I could rustle up, until the fall of 2015 when I was finally able to make the transition to a full-time income stemming from just my acting work. I have worked exclusively in theater, film and TV for the last eleven years,” Dillon wrote. “Now, like for many, many performer colleagues of mine — particularly those of us who are trans/nonbinary/gender nonconforming — acting work has all but diminished, and I’m in need of service work once more.” variety.com/2026/tv/news/bil…

Julia Stiles paid an emotional tribute to the late Heath Ledger on “Dancing With the Stars.” The routine ended with the audio of Stiles reciting the poem she read to him in the movie, as her costars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, Gabrielle Union and Susan May Pratt joined her on the #DWTS ballroom floor. In the video before her dance, she choked up telling Ezra Sousa: “I learned a lot from Heath… It was so easy with him. I have so many great memories. I really wish I could pick up the phone, and be like, ‘Hey dude.'” She added that her response in that scene was real, and she hopes to “recreate the musk for life he had” in that scene. variety.com/2026/film/news/j…

And so I think having it as a series just gives you a chance to expand on all the storylines and characters in a way that fans of the book will really love.”

“You Can See Everything” has a shot at winning Best Picture at the #Oscars, writes Variety’s film critic Owen Gleiberman: “Like ‘Pulp Fiction,’ this movie seems to be doing nothing less than reinventing what a movie can be. On Oscar night, ‘You Can See Everything’ may emerge as the year’s quintessential example of what a movie can be: an ecstatic disruption, an adventure of the spirit, one that wakes you up and startles you, that makes you want to see it again (I’m still working up the courage to go a second round with ‘The Odyssey’), and one that unites the audience in the feeling of having experienced something uncanny. Something we haven’t seen before. The reason I predict ‘You Can See Everything’ will triumph at the Oscars is that anyone who votes for it won’t just be voting for best picture — they’ll be voting for the future.” wp.me/pc8uak-1lHYMX
