I find the reactions to HaloBraid interesting. 1. Just like a tailor using an electric sewing machine, a braider using a tool doesn’t strip out your cultural identity. 2. The existing division of labor for braids is that a more skilled person does the roots and an apprentice completes the ends, so the work division makes sense imo. 3. This is v1. Everything we use today has gone through a similar iteration. It’s how we get dishwashers and self-driving cars and mobile phones. Hardware is tough, but I’m excited to see tech innovation around black hair, we deserve cool things too. I wish Yinka all the best, and s/o to @sevensevensix for making the bet.

I’ve sincerely not been able to put it down lmaoo because I’ve been waiting for the part where I’d be swept off my feet 😭😂 and damn! I was shookkkk. Finished reading Verity in less than 72 hours, ahead of the movie release. The one I can’t wait to start next is “The Silent Patient”. Then I’ll probably switch to a different genre, maybe some adventure fiction (with some hot characters, because you can’t take out the spice plssss 🤧).
I need a book recommendation that will have me hooked like The Housemaid by Freida McFadden. Please, I need the kind of book I won’t be able to put down.

Food for thought. You know, one of the major reasons I constantly remind myself NOT to take this life too seriously is that you could be busy planning out your life, while life, on the other hand, is planning you. Life can happen at any time. It doesn’t really give a fuck who you are. Is it money? It only takes one serious illness to almost or completely wipe out everything you’ve worked for. And at that point, nothing else will matter.

I turned 30 yesterday! 🥹❤️ Looking back at my 20s, I genuinely feel like I did everything I set out to do, and then some. Here are some of my favourite highlights from the last decade: ✅ Got legally married to the love of my life ❤️ ✅ Became an engineering executive ✅ Wrote 9 books, 7 of which are published ✅ Earned a master's degree in Computer Science from Georgia Tech ✅ Earned a business diploma from Stanford Graduate School of Business ✅ Got into one of the best MBA programs in the world ✅ Gave 200+ talks across six continents ✅ Won multiple national and international awards, received recognition from royalty, and even got featured in New York's Times Square ✅ Founded a community that has created learning opportunities for 13,000+ people ✅ Became a Computer Science mentor at universities across Nigeria, the UK, and the US ✅ Taught thousands of people around the world through courses, books, and other educational resources ✅ Relocated internationally twice and built a life across three countries ✅ Joined a venture advisory board ✅ Became a published researcher ✅ Built businesses and technology products, including an AI powered platform I'm incredibly excited about (launching soon) ✅ Built financial independence, enjoyed the rewards of my hard work, and treated myself to some of the finer things in life ✅ Made amazing new friends, reconnected with old ones, and learned to let go of friendships that no longer served me And somewhere in between all of that, I lived, loved, travelled, made mistakes, learned lessons, and grew into a woman I'm incredibly proud of. My 20s were everything I wanted them to be. I worked hard, took chances, and made so many of my dreams come true. I spent my 20s becoming the woman I always wanted to be. Now I get to spend my 30s enjoying everything I've built, dreaming even bigger, and kicking ass while I'm at it! 🥂❤️

Having been at Microsoft and worked with @merill I can attest this is 100% true. Microsoft and its customers would benefit greatly if it became more lean and more engineering focused. Also, sadly, a lot of good people will cut. Shameless plug, I'm hiring. DM me if interested.
Folks, I left Microsoft three months ago to start my own company. Two weeks after I left, my whole team in Australia was let go. I see the hurt it’s causing my ex-colleagues, their families and their kids. Layoffs, forced relocations, PIPs. It’s brutal and I don’t want to brush past that. But here’s my honest take. Microsoft needs fewer people. I’ve been on the inside. I’ve seen how things get built. Lots of small orgs. Layers on layers. Silos everywhere. Here’s a real example. The Entra team shipped managed identities back in 2017. No more secrets in code. A clear security win. Then they tried to get the rest of Microsoft to adopt it. Very few teams did, and the ones that did moved at a snail’s pace. Every org had its own priorities and its own decision makers. It took Microsoft getting hacked, and the Secure Future Initiative that followed, before things really moved. Today almost every Microsoft app and service supports managed identity. Six years, and a major breach, to get there. In a world with agents and fewer people, that rollout would be possible across Microsoft in months, not years. Microsoft already has everything else. The customers. The infrastructure. The scale. What it needs is fewer people, leaning hard into agentic work. Right now OpenAI and Anthropic are shipping at a pace Microsoft can’t match. Microsoft has to change to survive.

BREAKING: Microsoft, $MSFT, is offering buyouts to 60,000 workers as part of the company’s efforts to cut costs amid AI adoption, per Bloomberg. Personnel on select teams in the US, Canada, India, and the UK at a vice president level and below will be eligible. This reflects ~27% of Microsoft's total workforce.
