hey dumb question but if all software companies start enforcing token limits will the AI ARR-fueled circlejerk financing house of cards implode
NEW: Apple is cutting employee AI spending budgets even as it pushes workers to use the technology more. Engineers have seen daily limits cut from $300 to $200, with further reductions to $100 planned. Other teams could see limits fall to $25. bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Abandoned Aeron chair halfway across the Williamsburg Bridge pedestrian walkway. Market is so flooded with office furniture that they’re getting abandoned in deeply inconvenient places. Ominous leading indicator; the startup collapse will show up in the numbers in a month or so.

They’re still gonna build data centers guys. I mean they started building goddamn chip foundries during the Biden admin. Everybody needs to chill out.

I suggest we stop calling him the crypto president and act like that never happened, pretend he never supported it, gaslight people very hard and pretend he hated crypto and tried to ban it.

This feels out of date and it’s only 2 months old. Owning up to two misfires in my satire: 1) I now think RSI is less investment meme and more inevitability, though the outcome may not be too dissimilar (we’re all still getting great AI in our pocket, all moats will fall, etc etc). 2) Upon reflection, I should focus less on predicting the future and more about the absurdity of the present (or if I do want to talk about the future, take the present moment’s assumptions and extend them into the absurd, but don’t cast it as a prediction). My predictions are generally terrible anyway.

We asked GPT-6 Astra to edit Qwen3.5-0.8B weights to improve math. It directly changed only 0.016% of weights, fixing 0.8B's reasoning loops & improving math up to 6x and even instruction following 3x, without gradients or training. We call this Weight-Space Programming: frontier LLMs can now natively read/write neural network weights! 🧵 Blog: rikiyat.github.io/blog/weigh…
Community note
LLM was given weights explicitly as text in prompt and used code/forward passes (per authors' logs) to ablate Qwen looping direction, a known thinking-mode issue per model card. Primarily fixed repetition in that mode, not general 'natively' improving weights/math. rikiyat.github.io/blog/weight-sp… github.com/RikiyaT/lm_und… huggingface.co/Qwen/Qwen3.5-0… huggingface.co/RikiyaT/Qwen3.…

Tokyo developed new anti-crow posters to put up around trash collection sites. They feature geometric shapes幾何的 and eyes which apparently put crows on their guard However, as the effect only lasts for a few days, the cities prepared several different types The crow population in Tokyo has gone down from 36,000 in 2001 to 7500 today

Still unemployed and getting increasingly worried about my situation. Any help finding a good, stable tech job is deeply appreciated! I've coded for 30 years, since I was an eight-year-old. I was a CTO of a Y Combinator company. I'm a polyglot down to work in most languages.

The Binance hack changes nothing long term. The Bifurcation (actually resilient private decentralized stores of value on one side, actually better payment and finance in a regulated environment) will continue unabated. All casino CEXes will die.

I’m not sure we want a small group of people with a particular set of strongly held moral convictions to surveil and control what is becoming our thought space
We’ve trained Claude to flag potential misuse in conversations, a technique we call self-assessment. Right after it responds, Claude gives a preliminary safety assessment of the conversation. Since we began using self-assessment in June, it has surfaced misuse that our other safeguards weren’t designed to catch. Because Claude has already read the conversation, self-assessment is very efficient. And unlike classifiers, which target a discrete set of harms, it draws on Claude’s own judgment, so it gets more accurate as our models improve.
