Improving cardiovascular health in women is an urgent public health priority. Persistent gaps remain in awareness, prevention, and management of cardiovascular disease (CVD) in women. Only 41% of women identify heart disease as the leading cause of death. CVD accounts for >400,000 deaths among US women in 2024, which is more than breast cancer, lung cancer, and chronic lung disease combined. The Advisory describes the current landscape and proposes a novel infrastructure to support expansion of dedicated Comprehensive Centers of Excellence (CCoE) for Women's Cardiovascular Care: interdisciplinary care models built on four interdisciplinary pillars: clinical care, education and training, research, and community partnerships. Integrated pathways spanning disciplines can reduce fragmentation, enable earlier risk identification, and expand women's representation in clinical research. @American_Heart, @AmerAcadPeds, @acog and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine jointly approve this shared model. 📷 Examples of women’s cardiovascular health education topics across medical education and training. ✍🏼 @heartDocSadiya professional.heart.org/en/sc…

Thank YOU for your continued efforts to improve the health of women !!❤️❤️
Grateful for unsolicited feedback from patients or students following my interaction with them🙏 This week was extra special following my invited presentation to Postgraduate Nursing students at Monash by Dr Lisa Chen. In addition to finding it informative their feedback was that they appreciated my passion & that they would implement into their clinical practice & raise awareness for women's heart health❤️

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my heart always turns to my beautiful mom, Claire, whom we lost to metastatic breast cancer in 2011. Not a day goes by that I don't think of her. This photo of the two of us brings back so many wonderful memories and reminds me how precious our time together was — and how much I wish we would have had more of it. This month, I honor her memory and the extraordinary organizations working every day to give more families more time with the people they love. My work at the @American_Heart has taught me that while our missions may focus on different diseases, we are united by something much bigger — the belief that everyone deserves more time, more memories and more moments with those they love. My heartfelt thanks to the @AmericanCancer, @SusanGKomen, and so many others advancing research, improving care and bringing hope to everyone touched by breast cancer. For my mom, and for every family wishing they had just a little more time. ♥️

Antiplatelet therapy is foundational for acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and chronic coronary disease (CCD), but medication selection, dose, and duration should be individualized by thrombotic and bleeding risk. Guideline-based therapy remains the foundation of antiplatelet management, with dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) duration and P2Y12 inhibitor selection tailored to the clinical scenario. This scientific statement reviews contemporary antiplatelet management in ACS and chronic coronary disease, emphasizing individualized thrombotic and bleeding risk assessment, multidisciplinary care, and antithrombotic stewardship across the care continuum. 📷 Multidisciplinary care in antithrombotic management of acute coronary syndrome and CCD. Historically, medical research has relied heavily on male participants, with findings often generalized to women and children. If women’s health is discussed at all, it’s largely framed around reproduction. This special issue of Science highlights the research that is seeking to close the critical gaps in women’s health. Hypertension remains a major public health challenge in the United States, affecting more than 120 million adults with low rates of control, and is a central strategic priority of the American Heart Association as a leading, preventable driver of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This science advisory presents the American Heart Association Blood Pressure Control Logic Model as a unifying framework to coordinate and scale multi-sector efforts to improve blood pressure control across health care and community settings. Sustained improvements in blood pressure control and reductions in cardiovascular events require ongoing multi-sector collaboration, rigorous evaluation, and adaptation of the Logic Model to diverse organizations and communities. 📷 The American Heart Association blood pressure control logic model professional.heart.org/en/sc…
