Sky News try to do fair and thorough journalism challenge (IMPOSSIBLE)
Kim Mergits, a tourist from Antwerp, took three stones from beaches and streets in Turkey as decoration for her aquarium. But Turkey accused her of stealing archaelogical artefacts and she now faces a heavy fine or a prison sentence. trib.al/ImOtLbo
Community note
The stones she took were analysed by Antalya Museum and they concluded that 2 out of 3 stones she tried taking back to Belgium were archeological artefacts. tamgaturk.com/turkiye-den-al…

These two guys (@curious_coding and @daniel_c0deb0t) account for 90% of my impostor syndrome.
Wondering what singularity-level breakthrough would happen in biofx if @curious_coding and @daniel_c0deb0t shared an office

We’re officially so back.
WE ARE OFFICIALLY BACK @sineatrix finds a theoretical basis for superconductivity in Cu-doped Lead Apatite. Isolated flat bands at the Fermi level is a hallmark of superconducting crystals. LK99 has it!!!! This is huge

If you live in Cambridge and bike to Kendall, please take a right onto Broadway before getting to Hampshire St, for your own sake. That place is a death trap for cyclists.

Tweeps, here is a personal quandary of mine: Say you have a (sizable) project, that you developed in programming language A, which now has to be rewritten in language B (for *reasons*). What do you keep from the previous version, if anything?
24% Nothing (from scratch)
29% Only file/func structure
7% 100%, rewrite each line
40% Depends on A->B (comment)

Sincere thanks to my coauthors @RayanChikhi, @krsahlin, @pashadag, and @lab_berger for sticking with me through this! It was worth it. Give mapquik a try (and enjoy speed-ups of up to 400X) at github.com/ekimb/mapquik. Feedback and PRs welcome! Tell your colleagues!

God, Wittgenstein was the worst kind of person. He totally belonged at MIT.
When Wittgenstein submitted an essay for his BA degree at Cambridge, he did not include a preface and notes indicating the sources that he had used. When asked to supply these, he wrote this letter to G.E. Moore. (Wittgenstein in Cambridge: Letters and Documents 1911-1951, 76.)

My man was the butt of the joke for 9 seasons and no one had any sympathy for him ever. If you know someone like George, check in on them today.
one thing about sitcoms is that there’s always that one character that has some kind of deep unresolved trauma that gets completely overlooked for the laughs

Kierkegaard in response to a not-so-friendly reviewer of "Repetition" in 1843. (also, me when the manuscript gets delayed publication for another couple of weeks thanks to minor suggestions from the reviewers).

My PI Journal this week is a bit of a personal one: I was diagnosed with ADHD very recently. These are my thoughts about being an academic with ADHD, and how the L'IMAGE project lets me work with my brain, not against it. Read more here: lingcomics.com/pi-journal-5-…
