Jeff drank a bit too much of his own Kool-Aid in this recent Odd Lots clip. I think it's important to clear up a distinction that makes all the difference. Democratizing access to wealth creation is NOT the same as democratizing access to speculation. Many of us genuinely want broader participation in attractive investment opportunities. The growing wealth inequality produced by the current system is tearing at the seams of society, something I've spoken about many times. But let's be clear: listing pre-IPO perpetual futures does absolutely nothing to democratize the wealth being created in private markets. I've seen this misleading narrative pushed repeatedly by perp DEXs lately, and it needs to be called out. A pre-IPO perp creates ZERO underlying wealth. It's a zero-sum contract before costs, and negative-sum after them. No capital flows to the company. No ownership changes hands. No new economic opportunity is created. Every long has a short. There is no free lunch in simply going long something before its IPO, and funding costs can even determine the outcome more than any price moves. TRADING access is NOT INVESTING access. In fact, in many ways pre-IPO perps are almost the antithesis of democratized access: They create the illusion of participation in private-market wealth creation, while actually offering retail a speculative instrument whose mechanics they are often poorly equipped to understand. The result is a playground for the FEW sophisticated traders who understand funding, oracle design, and liquidation mechanics to extract value from the MANY who don't. To give credit where it's due, Robinhood's efforts toward sourcing actual employee shares, placing them into SPVs, and tokenizing genuine spot ownership are much closer to meaningful democratization. That can unlock real economic value by allowing employees to exchange some of their expected upside for liquidity, while giving new investors actual economic exposure. A legitimate financial trade-off, without the funding-rate and liquidation shenanigans. I'm strongly aligned with expanding access to investment opportunities. And I believe advances in AI and blockchain can dramatically lower the barriers to discovering, structuring, and distributing them. But let's not BS ourselves that launching another zero-sum casino contract is moving the needle on wealth inequality. What would actually move the needle is bringing real capital formation and ownership onchain. Giving investors access to productive, illiquid assets like data centers, GPUs, and select startup investing, where capital can actually finance growth and share in the resulting value creation. These opportunities are harder to structure, underwrite, and bring to market, and we haven't seen many compelling implementations onchain yet. Hopefully this will change soon and, as the industry matures, we can direct more of our energy toward actually expanding access to wealth creation. Clip below. Was glad to see @tracyalloway push back on this framing, and to Jeff's credit, after this he does seem to walk back his original position somewhat.
Jeff Yan: Wealth Is Often Created Before a Company Goes Public On October 15, 2026, Hyperliquid founder Jeff Yan @chameleon_jeff told Bloomberg's Odd Lots podcast @podcasts that when a company goes public at a valuation of several trillion dollars, most of the wealth has often already been created before its IPO. Access to those investment opportunities is limited to a small group, reflecting the limitations of the existing financial system. He argued that barriers to participation should be lowered to give more people equal access to financial opportunities, alongside stronger financial education to help investors assess whether those opportunities suit their risk tolerance.

There will soon be a huge winner on the new vertical of AI abstraction for: "Belief" --> "Executed Trade". We are excited to be backing the Catalyst team for this!
Introducing Catalyst. What do you believe? How would you trade on it? You notice data centers are popping-up everywhere, gold will skyrocket, or just know that Labubus will go out of fashion. Catalyst researches your ideas, builds the optimal strategy, monitors events, and executes trades. Autonomously.

I'm not sure if @naval and I are as directly at odds on this. ->There is the single-player game. Everyone can learn to self-develop, enhance their talents, and be an ideal version of themselves. ->Then there is the adversarial, more brutal efficiency game of societal impact. You can't just move at your own pace there. In this game, the brutal truth is without a natural headstart in a category you will never be able to reach your society's frontier.
Jordi Alexander doesn't believe everyone has a special talent. He estimates only 10–15% of people can realistically push themselves to make a meaningful impact. That puts him directly at odds with Naval’s philosophy that everyone has a unique talent. Is Jordi being brutally honest about human potential? But if you tell people that most of them simply don’t have what it takes, does that create realism... or kill the belief that they can become something greater?

. @gametheorizing argues retirement is a 20th century dream that quietly kills you "Don't think of retiring on like a beach. This is maybe like a 20th century dream. And it's not even that nice. When you talk to retired people, they start immediately decomposing once they stop being productive" "I think our DNA is wired, or if it sees that you are unproductive, you're not really doing anything, it'll just start to switch off and you'll die faster" "The solution, especially nowadays, is stop imagining the beach. Just accept that the ball is going to keep moving. Just don't imagine that there'll come a point in your life at which you're like, okay, I'm done" Podcast out this week! @SeliniCapital

This week, I'm releasing a 2-hour conversation with @gametheorizing - Founder & CIO at @SeliniCapital. Jordi is a former poker pro who built one of crypto's sharpest trading firms. He reached his financial goals years ago, got into the rooms he always wanted to be in, and now says the finish line itself is a myth. It's his third time on When Shift Happens, and his thinking has moved a lot since our last episode a year ago. His thesis: stop chasing targets like a net worth, a body fat number or a retirement date, and start managing a moving "puck". We talk about: - Why the beach retirement is a 20th century dream that makes people decay - What 15-minute one-on-ones with Sam Altman taught him about how the elite really think - What he learned talking to Naval about $ZEC and its long-term holders - How the puck moved from exits in the millions to seed rounds in the billions - Why doers are in a golden era that ends in a few years - Why taste and judgment are the last human edge over AI - What "human 2.0" means and the new inequality it creates - Why "just buy Bitcoin" now only works in some scenarios, with quantum as the tail risk - Why he tells his successful friends to spend more, not less And much more... Podcast out this week!

I find that top performance is a dance of periods of focus, interspersed with periods of inspiration maxxing. Fill your inspiration power bar up- even if it takes some chaos sprinkling- then get the fuck off the grid and lock in. This I’ve known for a long time. What I’ve gotten better at now is recognizing the right time to switch modes. Awareness of when you are slowing and need a kick, and when you are overstimulated and need to just get output out. Do this deliberately and conciously and you’ll unlock a whole new level of yourself.

Twitter posted my thread 1 by 1 so apologies if hard to follow through- Tldr: There will be some months of back and forth, but if long end bonds buyers dont appear, the Fed will be forced to restart and QE and- yes your internet coins could then benefit. pic ht/ @Fullcarry

For the past 3 years my elite friends that are either working in AI or living in San Francisco have been telling me adamantly we are 1-2 years from AGI/ASI singularity and absolutely everything is about to change. Meanwhile my intuition has been that no we’re not close to anything like humans not needed for intelligence. Like nowhere near I dont even see any whites on the eyes of this digital high IQ terminator, this dude is far on the horizon with the little mountains over there. Stark division of opinions throughout. My intuition Ive learned to train and listen to it, its my most powerful weapon. But I am a humble weaponholder, I recognize the achievements and abilities of these friends, in some cases of the most elite of them, far outweighs what I have achieved. If my opinion clashes so much with people of this caliber I also sit my ass down and listen. Its been enough time now that we’ve gone through their initial timelines. And somehow it feels like we have both been right? Clearly something revolutionary is going on, the digital/software world is being terraformed in front of our eyes and taking huge swaths of the economy with it. But I have been, so far, clearly correct. These things are still closer to a tool rather than replacing the tool holder. I still dont see it on the horizon. I dont know if its what Ilya S says that the data is gonna be the constraint. That feels right to me. There are only so many non linear intelligence vectors to train upon. There are still humans finding new ideas and innovating above and beyond what is available to train on online. I like to believe I am one of them and I dont feel like I am anywhere near saturation or that it will happen anytime in my lifetime. Yan LC has his belief that LLMs are capped which was well articulated, now though combined with world models I don’t know if thats the constraint. Data might be the boundary that will saturate first and the innovation needed for the next stage might be creating useful artificial data, much like for a long time financial model training has involved creating fake training data that has the attributes needed to program alpha. Ultimately this is all a pursuit for more alpha. Its a bit unnerving that even though I have been correct that the timelines on us being replaceable meat boxes arent correct, its impossible for me disprove the notion that its at the next corner we are about to reach. I feel like we will just keep going one block down the street at a time with baited breath because clearly something is getting closer though holding your breath for how long its actually gonna take is gonna asfixiate us. So lets take a breath. Theres a lot of trauma under the surface from the rate of change accelerating. Every single one of us feels it. The fascia are being pulled and we are emotionally masking it under our skin. We know something is under way. But those of us with strong awareness and with the lights switched on aren’t going to stop being needed anytime soon- I don’t care how many Elons, Darios, and Leopolds say otherwise.

The Polish people are one of the few reasons for optimism for Europe. Hard working, diligent, with good morals and more centrist social policies. A real contrast to the old Europe which has been decaying for many years now, collapsing under the lazy weight of its old success.
Poland is now the sixth largest economy in the European Union 🇵🇱 €922.9bn of GDP in 2025. Ahead of Belgium, Sweden, Ireland and Austria. 4.9% of the entire EU economy. Only Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands are bigger. The numbers behind it: Real GDP grew 3.6% in 2025 against an EU average of 1.5%. The European Commission forecasts 3.5% for 2026, second in the EU behind only Malta. Unemployment is 3.1%, joint lowest in the union. Poland's economy is 3.35x its 1990 size in real terms. Third fastest expansion in the EU over that period, behind only Ireland and Malta. Real GDP per capita is up 252% since 1990, second in the EU behind Ireland. Poland alone is now bigger than Romania and Czechia combined (€380bn plus €347bn). However, GDP per capita in purchasing power terms still sits 10 to 20% below the EU average, and the budget deficit is the largest in the EU at above 6% of GDP. In nominal dollars Poland is still just behind Switzerland at $1.036tn versus $1.044tn. The IMF now expects that crossover in 2028. Thirty five years of compounding growth, no lost decade, no recession between 1992 and 2020. And now focused on international expansion with companies like ElevenLabs or ICEYE. Gurom.
