My parents taught me this way and I've never learned anything else 🤷🏼‍♂️
found a very cool japanese alternate paper airplane design. it’s called the nakamura lock. it has a little “lock” part on the underside that holds the end of the wings down. atypical shape and cool aesthetic, has replaced the standard paper airplane design in our house entirely:

2033 when our youngest is 8 we're setting sail to circumnavigate the world
Everyone planning to sail solo asks a million questions about sleep schedules, catnaps, and keeping a proper lookout. Then you reach a certain age and apparently just say, “F it. I’ve had a good life.” And sleep for 11 straight hours. 💀

The only way out is through. They're calling it the Bugpocalypse. LLMs are being used to find long-hidden cracks in the software infrastructure, and it's happening at a furious rate. 3% of all compromises in computing history happened in the last week, claims one source? I believe it. There are people saying public access to the frontier models ought to be locked out, or heavily guardrailed, over this. The problem with that idea can be summed up in one sentence: when lockpicks are outlawed, only outlaws will have lockpicks. The lockpicks will be Chinese open-weight models, if nothing else. There's no way to stop those from becoming ubiquitous. There are two futures in front of us. One in which only the bad guys have lockpicks, and security holes go undiscovered until they're exploited. Another in which everybody has lockpicks and is aggressively red-teaming their own software so it gets fixed before the holes are exploited. The corpus of human code is huge but finite. The number of defects in it has to be finite too. We can fix those defects now; we have a million friendly robots to do it with. The only way out is through.

Hey uh @BackplaneWorks I had this idea while driving here is a brain dump... Project created and schematic started while I am away from my PC in literally 30 seconds. I come back to my desk and I already have hours of progress done Neat!

original text: "My daughter has a large hemanginoma on her forehead from birth, she's almost 3 now. If I made 30% less money the surgery would be free. For us though, the children hospital quoted us $26,000 for a 45 minute surgery It was fine before but she's old enough now to ask why she has it, why kids poke it and why she can't "cut it off" We're incredibly greatful theres no real health issue and it's only cosmetic (you can't frequent a children's hospital and not cry for other parents and what they're dealing with) But it sucks knowing the cosmetic "elective" surgery is being held up solely because I made too much money for "free healthcare" yet not enough that we can throw down $26k willy nilly Regardless the surgery is scheduled"

Everything we self-host for the family is behind a family wire guard VPN, next cloud was the only thing internet facing for extended family users. Looks like we're moving that behind wg as well
Replying to @hotschmoe @mattjay
Yes, the latest Nextcloud (35.0.2) still runs on PHP 8.3+. For home labs: only if internet-facing. Behind VPN/firewall the remote risk is low, but patch ASAP tomorrow when the PHP update drops. Other common PHP home-lab services: WordPress, BookStack, phpMyAdmin/Adminer, Firefly III, FreshRSS, Flarum, Lychee, Pterodactyl.

ELON MUSK: SpaceX took the team that dominates space and “applied that same team to the deployment of terrestrial compute.” “This is a bit like the New York Yankees playing in little league. It’s not fair.” SpaceX puts almost 90% of all mass into orbit. China is roughly 6%. The rest of the world combined, including the rest of the U.S., is about 4%. That’s “an order of magnitude greater” than all its space competitors combined. Now that team is deploying power, cooling, and infrastructure “vastly faster than anyone else, and may at some point be faster than everyone else combined.” “Let that sink in for a minute.”
