And of course, leading up to the 2024 election, attitudes were exactly the same, and I kept coming back to this sketch...

I'm picturing a time traveler at a karaoke bar, thinking, "Man, there has GOT to be some way to prevent this guy from murdering Pinball Wizard this badly..."

Me too. They always seemed so mean-spirited.

Reminds me of that Jimmy Kimmel bit from a few years ago, where he encouraged his viewers, the morning after Halloween, to tell their kids they'd eaten all their candy and film their crying, panicked reactions to be featured on air.

Season 1 is good. Season 2 is great. Season 3... I guess I'm the only one who didn't like it, but honestly, I thought it was a mess. (Yeah, don't come for me, I know I'm wrong, but I just couldn't get into it.)

I grew up in a family that loves quotes and pop culture references. Half of them I had no idea what they were or where they were from. Some I still don't. But if someone said it to me, I'd know exactly what they meant. And if I said it to someone outside my family... blank stares
I have always felt that the "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" language is impossible. Among other things, there is no way for it to be passed down without more general language in which the specific events can be described. There is a lesson in that for those who disdain abstraction.

Which, in fairness, is true of most Mandela Effects.

There was a story arc in the Superman newspaper comics in the 50s where Superman gets fat, and it's absolutely infuriating. Everyone, including Lois, is so awful to him.

I love these types of videos. I would watch an entire movie of just the animation models acting out the scenes.
Sherri Stoner served as the animation model for Ariel in The Little Mermaid (1989) as well as Belle in Beauty and the Beast (1991).

Part of me wants to look up old Boondocks comic strips. There was a whole arc a few months after Phantom Menace came out about convincing a superfan to sue George Lucas over how bad it was. There's also season 2 of Spaced. And so many other things.

Growing up, they used to show the original series on PBS, and my family would watch it Saturday mornings.

In my mind, he used one of the wads of money to bribe someone at the tomato canning facility to do him a favor. I'm fairly certain that's not what actually happened, but it's how I always view the scene.

Very true. Honestly, I spent a good amount of the film thinking he was supposed to be the villain. Virtually every action he takes, further cements his role as an abusive asshole. Then suddenly... Wait, was this considered romantic back then?

This was the plot of the 1929 movie The Broadway Melody, except somehow the audience is supposed to root for the guy to get together with his fiancée's younger, hotter sister, and at the end, everyone is OK with it.

Simple. Get Tony Stark. Stark puts in a call to Bruce Wayne. "Your friend has gone evil again." They negotiate a deal for some of Bruce's stash of Kryptonite. Bring in the rest of the free tier to keep Superman on his toes. They brawl, they beat him, I spend the $10 on shawarma.
You have $10 to beat Superman Who you choosing?
