Juan Atkins wasnt signed to a major and didn't make commercial music. There's no big capitalist machine invested in profiting from his posthumous career, so the accolades are going to come entirely from the literal millions who's lives were changed by his art- that's true legacy

On an ep of Culture, Power, Politics a while ago, @ProfAFinlayson mentioned to @jemgilbert that Starmer's Labour actively threatened core liberal commitments to open political speech. Labour conceded to authoritarianism. Currently under Burnham: theguardian.com/uk-news/2026…

I had an uncanny moment on the tube listening to @jemgilbert podcast about the crisis in higher education. They were discussing the neoliberal framing of students as self-owned human capital to be invested in, while I was absent mindedly looking at this advert

It has never seemed hard to combine (i.e. articulate) egalitarian appeals on economics and culture. The right wields cultural issues as a bigoted wedge and liberals fetishize cultural difference against universalist aspirations. The left should do something altogether different.

Royal Mail should be back in public hands. After years of missed delivery targets, Royal Mail has proven it can’t be run effectively by the private sector. That’s why I’ve called on the Government to renationalise it. If we fail to act, we risk losing Royal Mail for good.

I have been detained by Israeli security forces all day. Along with with MPs @labourlewis, @larabirdsnp, MSP Kate Nevans, former MP @SamTarry and campaigners from across the world, we were turned back because they don’t want anyone seeing their ethnic cleansing.

We honestly can't have too many books about that generation of activists. I'm not being sarcastic or wry. Looking forward to this one.
My new book, "I Rise in Fire: Jamil Al-Amin, aka H. Rap Brown, and the Long Revolution," published by Doubleday, will arrive on March 23, 2027. More details and pre-order: kundnani.org/i-rise-in-fire-…

Today Israeli authorities barred me and other European elected representatives from entering the West Bank to meet Palestinian students and civil society leaders, as part of a @ProgIntl delegation. We knew that by crossing into the occupied Palestinian territories, we risked being detained, interrogated and turned away by Israeli authorities. And that, alas, is exactly what happened. For more than eight hours, we were held, interrogated and made to feel as though we had done something wrong simply by attempting to enter. The simple truth is we had done nothing wrong. We went to show our support for the Palestinian people and highlight the terrible injustice and violence being perpetrated against them. We want to ensure that people back home do not look away from the reality of what is happening. Ultimately, we went to show solidarity. But we left with an even greater determination to speak out. We will not be silenced, and we will not look away. None of us should.

Hugely consequential election results in Brazil and Serbia last night. With the mid-terms also looking disastrous for Trump the global Fascist wave might be ebbing. And with youth uprisings exploding across Europe room is opening for a left response to 2027's accelerating crises.

I interviewed @Sapronov27 about the French protest movement. We talked about the origins of the protests, the electoral implications for Melenchon and Le Pen, the insane accusations made against LFI by the French media and where the protests leave Macron: patreon.com/poltheoryother/p…

Britain produces less than 10% of the active pharmaceutical ingredients in all the drugs we use. By 2030, we’ll have a shortage of up to 1.5mn engineers. But don’t worry - the government has a plan to boost national resilience: stock up on baked beans & fray bentos pies.
