Haha
Iran’s diplomat makes a Jane Austen reference. White British male newscaster does not get it. SO much of contemporary British cultural hubris and ignorance (even of themselves) encapsulated in this clip.

I can see why the idea appeals, but while this may not be AI, it ain't no actual French detective either. Still, lots of retweets and likes so there's that.
Actual shot (not AI!) of a French detective working the case of the French Crown Jewels that were stolen from the Louvre in a brazen daylight robbery. Somehow he looks like he’s smoking even without a cigarette in his hand, but surely everything you know about life is screaming at you: this case is officially screwed! To solve it, we need an unshaven, overweight, washed-out detective who's in the middle of divorce. A functioning alcoholic who the rest of the department hates. Never gonna crack it with a detective who wears an actual fedora unironically.
Community note
The photo is real, taken outside the Louvre after the jewel theft. The man in the fedora is a passerby, not a detective on the case. newsweek.com/louvre-heist-d… newsroom.ap.org/editorial-phot…

It’s November 2024 and I am listening for the first time ever to BBCs ‚Today‘ talking about the damage Brexit has done to Britain. I mean, it has just been 8 years..

Fascinant: la commission @vonderleyen 2 risque de tomber à cause du blocage du @EPPGroup sur @Teresaribera, de loin la meilleure candidate de l'équipe, juste parce que la politique politicienne espagnole s'impose au Parlement européen

Elon Musk will rip out the basic administrative structures needed to sustain a functioning state and then wonder why the state can't implement his or Trump's agenda

Seems evident that Elon Musk will end up as Trump's Dominic Cummings, angrily throwing rocks at him online

The American people have voted. I am in regular contact with top security officials from both parties. Europe urgently needs to take more responsibility for its security. The winds of history are blowing ever more strongly. Poland's leadership will rise to the occasion.

More of Marine Le Pen's voters would like to see Kamala Harris in the White House than would rather prefer Donald Trump. Does that say more about them, or about Trump? theguardian.com/world/2024/n…

Honestly, if we reelect this charlatan we deserve whatever misery and strife we’re sure to get
It's easy to forget how insane the stuff Trump says is sometimes because there's so much of it. Thanks, Jimmy Kimmel.

Sans être spécialement pessimiste, je ne sais pas ce qu’il restera de notre civilisation quand nos démocraties libérales auront subi encore 5, 10 ou 20 ans de mensonges décomplexés, assénés comme des vérités alternatives…
