If the government can control who’s there when the sh*t hits the fan, it’s you who loses. We all deserve people in the room with the president whose only allegiance is to trying to tell you the truth The press are flawed because we are human and we should always always work to be better. But the allegiance of your free press, however flawed it may be, is to you, and to the truth. And you should demand that from us, and from your government.
WATCH: @kasie explains the job of the press, the stakes involved, and why it must be free from government influence.

Yesterday my @CNN colleague @ScottJenningsKY offered as justification for the @POTUS's bid to seize control of mail-in voting a story that 50,000 ballots had been sent out but never delivered during the June primary election in AZ. So I looked it up and you can, too. I've attached it below. These cases reflected people who had moved or died since the last election and could not be found at that address. It doesn't reflect completed ballots that voters mailed back. And, as the story points out, it is a fairly typical number. In fact, these ballots aren't forwarded to new mailing addresses. That's an election security measure--a feature not a bug--to ensure that people don't vote twice. AZ's election system has been well-scrutinized and found to be remarkably fair, honest and accurate. (Remember when Republicans in the AZ state senate hired the "Cyber Ninjas" to investigate the 2020 election in the state's largest county and found that @JoeBiden had not only won, but had beaten @realDonaldTrump by a few votes MORE than originally reported.) These specious arguments are offered to justify Trump's unjustifiable claims, and are meant to sow confusion and doubt about an election system whose probity has been the envy of the world. azmirror.com/2026/08/19/over…

On this 25th Anniversary, I want to again honor my friend and @WestPoint_USMA roommate, Doug Gurian, murdered by terrorists on 9/11 at the WTC. "Although our course is run, may it be said, 'Well done; Be thou at peace.'" We all miss you. #GripHands alumni.westpointaog.org/memo…

@AmericanAir just landed on an American flight for vacation. We are parked on the tarmac even though there’s an open gate — it’s being held for a “bigger plane”. We are waiting for a gate our pilot says has a flight that boards in 15 minutes. Boarding will take 30 minutes. So that’s 45 minutes at least sitting and waiting when the open gate is visible out the window. I am posting because our pilot literally said, and I quote, “you should call and complain. They don’t listen to the employees but they listen to you.” 🤷🏻‍♀️ I fly a lot but this is a new one! Can you help?

(Also there’s a US senator on this plane @AmericanAir not that said person would ever do as this pilot is asking but in case that’s relevant information 😂🤦🏻‍♀️)

Loved this poignant, funny, honest, and beautifully written essay about going through the never-planned life change that is divorce “Divorce may be almost as common as becoming a parent,” @anniekarni writes. “But it’s less clear what you’re supposed to say. I’m sorry? Congratulations? I’ve found that the correct answer is to say both.” (I happen to agree.) Do read here or in the September issue of @voguemagazine ↘️

WATCH: As candid a convo about the Democratic Party autopsy as you’ll see on TV, from a Dem who has seen everything there is to see of national political campaigns —>
I’ve seen more thorough autopsies from the local coroner’s office. This DNC autopsy report has nothing to do with how to win a race. But if you want a roadmap for how to lose one, it’s probably useful. Winning isn’t as complicated as it looks. Candidates who can appeal to a broad coalition of Democrats and Independents, who know how to communicate why they’re running and why that matters to voters — that was the secret sauce behind Bill Clinton and Barack Obama’s electoral and reelection successes. It was also the formula that helped Nancy Pelosi become Speaker. The last three presidential elections were decided by roughly half a million voters across seven states. We need candidates who know how to win those states and earn the confidence of those swing voters. It’s that simple. And you won't find the combination to that lock in this autopsy report.

Anybody could have seen this coming. Finally Big Tech is being held accountable for the damage it’s done to our adolescence. The jury tells you where public opinion is. No time to rest on our laurels. Now it’s time to take it to the next step. Congress has to act and ban social media for kids under the age of 16. It’s either the adults or the algorithms that will raise our children. Let’s make the right choice. nytimes.com/2026/03/25/techn…
