The styling in Nobody Wants This is SO good. The costumes, the interiors, the COLOR. More of this, please. Enough with the sad beige everything. 👏 Erin Foster and team.

So the “not-so-official-anymore“ presentation is in: The melanoma vaccine works. We knew that, 82% recurrence-free at two years vs 70% with immunotherapy alone. It's built individually for each patient, the logistics are enormous: Sequence their tumor, design the vaccine, manufacture it for one person. Weeks of work that will cost a fortune. A treatment like that doesn't scale to most of the world. It scales to countries that can afford a factory run per patient. I live in a country which happens to be able to afford that, most countries can’t. Melanoma kills people everywhere. This will reach a fraction of them. Solving cancer and solving access are two different problems. We just got better at the first one.

The next great AI bio breakthrough won’t happen in a browser. It will happen in a lab. AI-powered robotic labs can radically accelerate drug discovery, while rebuilding critical scientific capacity in America. Proud to be an 😇 investor in @warpsciences and back @kevinweil l, @dpatil and this extraordinary team. 🚀
💥 Introducing Warp Sciences, a new company applying AI and robotics to help the world develop new medicines faster. We’ve raised a $215M Series A led by @lightspeedvp to bring frontier AI out of the browser and into the lab, and build scientific capacity here in America. I co-founded Warp with my long-time friend @dpatil, FAIR co-founder @manohar_paluri, and drug hunter Sol Reisberg. The early team is full of incredible people like @bkspears9, who helped achieve Q>1 fusion at LLNL.

When I was investing in healthcare in the early 2000s, the US was an incredible force in biotech and China was known for just making raw materials. Wow, the world has flipped. It’s remarkable how China has become a powerhouse in drug discovery and is now leading. The world will shift again with AI, but the country that wins will be the ones that have large data initiatives to fuel discovery and a nimble regulatory oversight to partner and not hinder progress.
In January 2025 my mom’s lung cancer spread to her brain. The drug with the best chance of helping her was approved in China but not here. A doctor told me, almost as an aside, that if she were Chinese she could buy it at a pharmacy. So I flew to Shanghai and came home with 26 boxes in my luggage. That was 19 months ago. My mom is still here, still working, and in her words has had an amazing three years. The drug was approved in China in 2023. The FDA approved it in July 2025. It still is not for sale here. I know of at least 30 Americans who have made the same trip. I have been scared to tell this story because I worried it could cost my mom access to the medicine keeping her alive. But the problem matters more than my silence. These drugs need to be developed and available here, and that means FDA reform. Art Allen at KFF Health News told our story this week. It also ran in The Washington Post. kffhealthnews.org/health-ind…

America pioneered modern biotech. Now China is about to lap us. In 2015, China accounted for 8% of global early-stage drug development. In 2025 46% of new drug molecules entering human trials originated from Chinese biopharma companies. This is a five-alarm fire. Hope the FDA is paying attention.

🧬 n-1 treatment is coming
We’ve acquired Orchestra Bio, a platform that helps biopharma teams coordinate the complex process of drug development. Together, we’ll build on Rosalind, our AI models and tools for life sciences research, to streamline those operations and help new treatments reach patients sooner. Welcome @ashokaraj_ and team! openai.com/index/openai-to-a…

I think I found a planet nobody knew existed. It's been hiding in NASA telescope data for seven years. At the end of this thread, you can fly to it yourself.

Yesterday Dr Slamon won a huge industry prize and it also happened to be the day I delivered thank you notes from hundreds of women he saved. Coincidence? ✨
Congratulations to Dr. Dennis Slamon, recipient of the 2026 Albany Prize for groundbreaking discoveries that transformed how we understand and treat cancer. An incredible and well-deserved honor! bit.ly/4rTVB3k

Trump understands that the only durable way to sway public opinion on AI is health breakthroughs. Incentives are aligning for a golden age of health and medicine 🥂
BREAKING: The U.S. government, Google, Meta & Zuckerberg-backed @biohub are launching a $1.8B push to build the data layer for AI biology. The goal is to create the largest open, AI-ready biological dataset ever assembled, giving models the data needed to better predict how biology works & ultimately help treat disease. The coalition is massive: › Biohub committed $500M › DOE is investing $500M+ across measurement, modeling & compute › NIH is bringing $500M+ of federally funded datasets & repositories › Meta, Google DeepMind & @IsomorphicLabs are jointly investing another $300M This is effectively an infrastructure buildout for AI biology. Instead of just building bigger models, they’re attacking one of the biggest bottlenecks in biology AI today, generating standardized, high-quality biological data at massive scale & making it openly available to researchers. $1.8B committed to turning biology into something AI can increasingly model, predict & engineer.

Ideas don’t save lives. Drugs do. Herceptin saved my life. It has saved 3 million lives since 2006. Next week I’m meeting Dr. Dennis Slamon, the scientist who discovered Herceptin. For over a decade, he fought through skepticism, funding crises, and regulatory hurdles to get Herceptin to women battling one of the deadliest forms of breast cancer. I asked survivors what they wanted to tell him. Their stories poured in. They sent photos with the children they lived to raise. They told me about proms, graduations, grandchildren, falling in love and growing older. Women from the earliest Herceptin trials wrote about still being here more than 25 years later. I put their stories in a book. Next week, I’ll place it in Dr. Slamon’s hands. You can see it here: katerouch.com/blog/giftoftim… 🙏 Josh Miller @joshm for making this meeting happen. To the next generation of cancer researchers - keep pushing. This is what your work can mean.
