me and my friends would have killed Tolan with hammers I can tell you that much
Last year we launched Tolan, inspired by a vision of AI that sees you and believes in you, not one that books restaurant reservations for you. Your Tolan shows up for you at 3am when you’re alone with your newborn. On your commute when you’re anxious about the day ahead. When you just finished a new show and none of your friends have watched it yet. The people who love Tolan are parents. Caregivers. Moms in Dallas and Dads in Atlanta. People who aren’t trying to optimize and be more productive, but who simply want to feel seen and supported in their aspirations. This month more than 250k people will spend time with their Tolan. Those users have exchanged billions of messages across more than 70m conversations over the last year. Today, we're announcing $30m in additional capital from @mignano and @usv, with @khoslaventures and @rabois doubling down, bringing our total capital raised to $60m. To celebrate, we made a short film celebrating some of the ways that Tolans show up :)

It's why 23andMe never turned a profit. Customers rarely returned to their results, and the company never figured out how to use its massive trove of genetic data to develop drugs.
I can't find a way to use my genome. I’m the most intense longevity athlete in the world and haven’t used my genome for a single thing. Fully sequenced in 2012. Again this year, paying $7,902 for matched 30x long read + 100x short read. Still, nothing. What am I missing?

For years I’ve thought the egg/heart/tree shapes of Reece’s are better due to altered peanut butter to chocolate ratios. And now I learn that the limited seasonal candies are specifically made with inferior ingredients? I’m fully radicalized. I’m storming the capitol

I wonder how much of the current tenor of anti-doomer sentiment is tied to the fact that being negative about AI is female-coded pewresearch.org/short-reads/…

Boston is so uncool that people are mad as hell that a bunch of Starbucks locations closed downtown and now they're forced to go to locally owned coffee shops bostonglobe.com/2026/10/19/b…

In the movie, is framed as a crazy ask, but you wouldn’t believe how often people ask to get paid for doing interviews - and that’s boring written journalism! The idea you’d get paid to participate in a documentary is probably the default assumption for most people!
I loved “You Can See Everything.” But it left a sour taste: why would it be unethical for Holmes and Evans to get paid?? This is not a straight documentary. Fielder is shaping a performance amongst the 3 of them. So the conventional journalistic prohibition on paying sources doesn’t clearly apply. Framing A24’s financial interest as the neutral business of making a movie, while Evans’s as a moral failing feels flawed.  And then the part that gets sour is turning that negotiation into material. Which is quintessential Nathan Fielder, but AGAIN makes any appeal to conventional documentary ethics even less convincing.

Omg, I'm actually am going to Hershey Park this weekend and it is indeed mostly just to to see the Decayed Brigade.
I finally got to write about my biggest internet obsession of the last year or so: the massive, crazed, extremely horny fandom of 2 of the “haunt sliders” at Hershey Park.

“Haunt sliders” have metal knee pads and gloves so they can slide up to scare people, and also do tricks. This has been around for a while (started at Knott’s Scary Farm) but these two guys - “Fryboy” and “Archer” have become like, haunted theme park celebs on TikTok, and people come from around the country just to see them. Hersheypark told me that crowds have doubled in the last 5 years since it started

Matt Farley is the most prolific singer-songwriter of all time. He's written over 26,000 songs and makes $200k/year off music streaming royalties. He's also: - made 18 movies - written 5 books - been profiled by NYT and Wired He's best known as "The Poop Song Guy". I watched him perform live at "Burp. Fest" and he opened with "Diarrhea Bounce Back". "Experts have declared that Matt Farley is a genius." is something I can only say with quotes, because he tweeted it himself. I spent a week with him in suburban Massachusetts, going on a 15 mile "epic walks", attending his homeschool kids talent show, and listening to his greatest hits over 5 hours of car rides, with him pausing to explain his "genius" every other minute. I've never been more inspired by anyone. Just by being himself, he's given me more confidence in my ideas and what could come from putting them out into the world. He's independently discovered and embodied "do things that don't scale" and "ramen profitability" without reading Paul Graham. We talked about creative exhaustion from AI, how inspiration is everywhere, "reverse stealing" to promote his music before the internet, and why artists fake being sad for attention. I wrote for @sfalexandria_ on how and why he puts in such an overwhelming amount of effort into his creative process. sfalexandria.com/posts/matts…

Wow, cucked by AT&T -- like a week ago I could do a free trade-in for my older iphone for a new 18, but now the deal is only partial value. I don't recall these carrier deals being so fleeting (like 2 weeks after new phone release) in the past?

Probably the most fucked up thing I've done with Muse is have it watch all the Instagram Stories from anyone in my Close Friends list. It sends me a summary of their Stories each morning so I don't have to watch them myself. Finally, I'm freed from the shackles of friendship
