Everybody needs to calm down about the CA compromise. They’ve bumped the private key from 4 to the next logical number, but please do not post about what that next logical number following 4 may be lest it be publicly disclosed

Days like today I am so glad to be out of the SRE on-call rotation game I don’t need an intermediate CA rotation in my life, heartbleed was enough for me

People act like Rust is some great language and yet when you ask for evidence, its supporters present very compelling and well-reasoned justifications for using the language. Seems a little suspicious if you ask me

Venture Capitalists are burning so much money to ghostwrite posts with LLM tokens when they could easily get the same level of insights they’re used to with an incompetently-written Markov chain

I can accept many of the inevitable aspects of aging, but the exponentially-increasing rate of bodily maintenance is obnoxious purely from the perspective of how much time it takes to keep things running smoothly

I take umbrage at comments like “you aren’t nearly as good at coding as the models are” because I have often been fortunate enough to receive pointed and high praise from very competent coworkers about the code I write and regularly find dumb things in agent PR reviews

This is already too much Linux; I’d prefer a release with even more compiler guarantees and less C guesswork
Ubuntu 26.10 has been released. The big new feature? Ubuntu “completes the rollout of the Rust-based uutils coreutils”. To give you an idea how important “re-write everything in Rust” is to the team at Canonical: - “Rust” was mentioned 8 times in the short press release. And “Rust” is highlighted in the sub-title of the announcement as well as the first paragraph. - On the flip-side, “Linux” was only mentioned 3 times. And not talked about until the end of the release. Based on this (and every other statement from the Ubuntu team), it’s clear that “Rust” is the most important thing for Ubuntu right now. ubuntu.com/blog/canonical-re…

I earnestly hope this tweet is true. Knowing things like this happen in the real world is like knowing Rumpelstiltskin exists or that the homunculus theory of mind is real
The minds and going-abouts of the cattle are truly fascinating
