This is such a wrong take 🙃
Being senior means you can evaluate and steer results better than juniors because I know what good and maintainable code looks like and we simply know what we want to achieve without having to write every single line of code.
I think the debate here is more between growth mindset and fixed mindset when it comes to adopting new technology and tools, people like
@steipete @KrauseFx @pepicrft and me have made career questioning status quo and adopting new ways and creating new tools to make life easier for devs, which isn't about talent or seniority as much as it's about how we think. All of us are leveraging AI daily...
Also some of the hate is absolutely because of fear, a lot of works devs will become obsolete and unnecessary, teams will become a lot smaller to achieve same results or simply the ceiling will be a lot higher to compete on job market.
I know this well because big part of my career has been making devs more efficent, it became a lot easier now as I can literally replace lots of dev tasks with agent loops at a fraction of costs, this is extremely enticing to businesses as it was always about getting more done and faster.
Developers can adapt to new ways, but in human nature change is hard and requires time investment and it's easier to just try to spread hate and fear so that you stay in your comfort zone longer.
But the thing is this revolution is not going to be stopped, you need to adapt and if you let go of your fear and learn those tools you'll understand we are in extremely exciting times, what is possible now vs 5 years ago is a complete game changer.
I have been coding my whole life, and in 29 years since I started we have never been in more groundbreaking time, what it means to be programming is changing and it's coming fast, and I'm so excited to see what we can create and how our lifes are going to evolve!
Starting to realise that the pro/anti LLM debate is just a junior/senior programmer debate in disguise.
Think about it.
Senior devs like Ryan Fleury, Tsoding and Notch are all skeptics... but junior devs like Theo cite AMAZING productivity gains because their floor is so low.
