In this game, I sacrificed my Rook 4 times and my Knight 3 times to beat an FM. This is why I play the King's Indian Defense - to have exciting games like this. I think @GMGawain might like this - it's his pet line with Nbd7! This was Round 8 of the Atyrau Open tournament.
The Atyrau Open is over. It was my best tournament this year. I beat several masters and was in the fight for 1st till the very end. I finished 7th ($500 prize) and gained 50 Elo points. In one game, I sacrificed a Rook 4 times and Knight - 3. Check it out in the pinned tweet!
Special thanks go to KazChess for great organization, to my wife for her support and to @GMJacobAagaard for his Killer Homework at the @killer_chess Academy, which has sharpened my calculation to the point where I could outcalculate much higher-rated opponents.

20 thousand subscribers on YouTube! Finally! Thanks to everyone who is watching, you can congratulate me on this milestone in replies! (My first channel in Russian now has 260k subscribers, but getting to 20k in English was much harder for me).
Calculate this position deeply to find the win for Black (don’t forget about White’s counterplay!). It’s Black to move, from my game at the Atyrau Open tournament. Endgames are all about calculation, contrary to what many think!
Well, nobody solved it, but the solution is BEAUTIFUL! Queen a1 check, King b3 (or, if the Knight blocks, the d5 pawn will fall), and then... Queen a3 check!!! And it's a stalemate.
Wesley So is CRUSHING everyone at the US Championship. Yesterday he won a lost (!) endgame against Ray Robson, today he won a drawn pawn endgame against Andy Woodward. This shows tremendous class. He’s now also risen to No. 6 in the world in live ELO.

My new tournament starts today - Atyrau Open, final leg of the Kazakhstan Cup. Lots of legends are playing, including Kamsky and Jobava. Also, some of the Uzbek Olympians and top Kazakh, Russian and Indian players (35 GMs overall). It’s going to be exciting!
I'm back to solving the Killer Homework at the @killer_chess Academy every week. Very hard calculation exercises, but it's great training. This week, I managed to solve correctly 2 out of 6 in both sections. Need to improve my form - the next classical event is coming soon.
Are today’s chess engines really as good as you think? In my new podcast, Yevgeny Levanzov explains what engines can miss, how AI learned to play chess, and when to question their advice. Plus a blitz game — don’t miss it👇
