My month with AI, October edition I thought I had a quiet month AI, because I was traveling for a major part of September. I was wrong: Discussions/Events - Held a closed-door dinner on agents, regulation and memory in Bangalore - Lots of AI conversations at GFF in Mumbai Productivity & Agents - Created a packpal skill for helping me pack - Highest leverage move: added send to agent to Areas, my todo app - Used my agent to set up a credit card points optimisation cadence - Created self learning mechanisms for my AI agents: each learns something new autonomously - Saki now mails me my high leverage tasks for the day. Thanks @sampad for the suggestion. Reshaped my October. - Used AI to clean up junk from my todo app Areas - Ran security scans for some of my projects and fixed that - Won’t say who, but build investment approaches based on a couple of friends and how they look at investments - Created a boardroom for my AI agents for me to get views on things from different lenses. Also to give them things to learn from different lenses. - Via MCP, gave Saki access to my voice notes app - Big one: brought Ed (editorial agent) and Ev (event agent) to my discord. - All my agents are studying poker. I just thought it might be useful for strategic and tactical thinking. - Cleaned up my Discord hermes setup: forums+threads wasn’t working. now it’s multiple channels per agent. Shut down and merged some crons. Memory: - Upgraded mymem to include facebook imports and imported my facebook data. also imported images, and enabled users to keep some posts private. - Created a public repo of my public posts across social media, news citations and columns: it’s at mymem.space/nixxin . Got this idea from my wife. - Added my contacts to mymem, and created a skill for saki: who do I ping for that - Imported my quotes from news articles into mymem: I used it to draft points I’d make, while preparing for a TV debate. I edited those points ofc. I need to improve that skill. Media: - Set up an agenting publishing operating system as an experiment for Reasoned: called Ros. - Started building an agentic publication: MediaNama world - Set up a separate agentic publishing operating system as an experiment: called MediaNama World OS. - Got Claude to fix some vulnerabilities in MediaNama that Yash Kadakia pointed out - Fixed MediaNama charts, got it connected to Ed (our editorial agent) for creating charts more easily than humans - Identified 10 monthly data stories, and 9 quarterly data stories that Ed can create with charts, many of which our team doesn’t have the bandwidth to do. First drafts only: team has to edit, check and rewrite. - Set up a cron for Ed to identify high quality medianama stories based on regulatory developments, daily Commerce: - Made my first full fledged agentic payment using Aditya Sengupta’s stealth agentic commerce product Products - Added search to Areas - Fixed Sift by bookmarks app (unused for months), and enabled send to agent for reading, skill creation or tasks - Set up backups for key AI builds GTM - Set up email GTM for Saki (my ops agent) for small ad sales - Last thing of the quarter: got my agent to review all the tasks for the quarter on Areas and planned high leverage builds for the quarter. Writing and content re AI - Created a handout I printed on trends in Agentic AI - Wrote an editorial on SIR data and AI - Recorded 3 podcasts for Reasoned, with folks who are into AI and some deploying agents - Created jagdeepchhokar.org for Jagdeep Uncle’s memorial. It’s now a public archive of his writing and videos Other stuff - Attended a video creation workshop and figured out what works and what doesn’t with AI and video - Tried out Gemma 4 and Qwen on my phone as local models. October is already more hectic than this btw.

In Pilibhit, ECI officials manipulated voter rolls at a breakneck speed. @reporters_co analysed the metadata of the ECI's voter database & found: 1. On a single day, names of 656 voters were modified in 7.4 minutes. That’s 89 voters a minute, or one every 0.7 seconds.

This is not a reasonable ask imo. If hostinger got a govt or court order, they're forced to comply. Blame the court or the govt. The platforms are also victims here.
Let's all boycott @Hostinger, and those who use it should move away from Hostinger as a service. 1984, gandi and njalla are much more secure services. There are many other hosting providers which don't bend to censorship the way @Hostinger did. I'm happy to help people who want to move away from @Hostinger and other such services which make no attempt to resist censorship.

Some things to keep in mind for those running websites and whose social media is at risk: 1. Export your social media history regularly and keep offline backups. Account blocking is a real problem. How frequently, is up to you. For x, you can pay a little for API access. If you get blocked you can host your social media archive on your own site. I've hosted mine at mymem.info/nixxin . This reminds me I need to update it Youtube is obviously a different beast because it's usually long video. 2. Avoid .in domains like the plague. NIXI keeps changing policies and becoming more regressive. If you have one, redirect. Check MediaNama's coverage of nixi. We reported on bigrock blocking sites many years ago as well. Corollary: a. avoid Indian registrars and very popular ones as well. b. Register multiple domains for your keyword as backup as well. 3. Keep a backup server on another host and backup your deployments and social media. Websites can be backed up every 6 hours if you want. Keep 3-4 backups. Allows you to go live again.
PUBLIC STATEMENT BY PARANJOY GUHA THAKURTA On the arbitrary takedown of paranjoy.in by Hostinger following legal notices from Indiabulls founder Sameer Gehlaut October 31, 2026 On the morning of October 28, 2026, my website paranjoy.in and all its associated subdomains, including media.paranjoy.in and adanifiles.paranjoy.in, were abruptly taken offline by our web hosting provider, Hostinger (HOSTINGER operations, UAB). The website, registered twelve years ago, serves as an online archive of my work over several decades as a journalist, author, publisher, and maker of documentary films and music videos Hostinger gave no prior intimation, warning, or opportunity to respond before suspending the entire hosting account. When my colleague contacted Hostinger “Support” at 6:48 AM on October 28, a hosting “specialist” stated that the suspension was triggered by an abuse report for "Fraud/Scam" and declared that "unsuspension is not negotiable in this case." This sudden shutdown of an entire repository under the label "Fraud/Scam" happened just days after Sameer Gehlaut, founder of the Indiabulls group, served me with an ex parte court order demanding the removal of a single article published more than seven years on Newsclick.in. For over six years, Indiabulls and Shri Gehlaut have pursued legal action over this report and I have consistently defended our journalistic report in court. Here is the timeline: · March 11, 2020: Indiabulls Housing Finance Limited filed a criminal defamation complaint (CC No. 1765/2020) before the Patiala House Courts, New Delhi, against NewsClick, its Reader's Editor Urmilesh, co-author of the article Sourodipto Sanyal, NewsClick editor Prabir Purkayastha, and me over an article published on the website on September 30, 2019. · June 6, 2025 and July 9, 2025: More than five years after the complaint was filed, a Judicial Magistrate at Patiala House Courts passed an order on June 6, 2025, dropping proceedings against Shri Purkayastha while issuing summons to the remaining four accused, including me, under Sections 499 and 500 of the Indian Penal Code. A formal summons was issued on July 9, 2025, for appearance on July 30, 2025. · August 27, 2026: Counsel for Shri Gehlaut, sent me a legal notice demanding the takedown of the article within 24 to 48 hours, claiming that a status report by the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Delhi Police had altered the factual position. · September 2, 2026: My counsel sent a reply pointing out concerns with the legal notice · October 24, 2026: Indiabulls Nests Limited (Plaintiff No. 1) and Sameer Gehlaut (Plaintiff No. 2) obtained an ex parte ad interim injunction from the Court of one of the District and Sessions Judges, Patiala House Courts, New Delhi, in Civil Suit No. 529/2026 (Indiabulls Nests Ltd. & Anr. v. Ashok Kumar/John Doe & Ors.), in which I am arrayed as Defendant No. 19. The order directed the removal and de-indexing of the article on paranjoy.in (listed as Item A-33 in Schedule A). · October 25, 2026 (10:13 AM IST): Advocates representing Indiabulls Nests Limited and Sameer Gehlaut, emailed me the October 24 court order and suit documents, demanding immediate deletion and written confirmation of compliance. · October 26, 2026 (11:33 PM IST): Sameer Gehlaut personally sent an email from his official address (sameer@indiabulls.com) demanding the immediate deletion of the URL from paranjoy.in and threatening to move the court under Order XXXIX Rule 2A of the Code of Civil Procedure if I did not comply, noting that the matter is next listed on December 18, 2026. While I was in the process of challenging the order dated 24.10.2026 before higher forums, on the same day, advocates representing Shri Gehlaut submitted a court order takedown complaint to Google LLC. · October 28, 2026 (3:16 PM IST): Google Search Console sent an automated notice ([WNC-598900]) informing me that Google was blocking the specific URL paranjoy.in/article/the-maze…  from appearing in search results on google.co.in. The Lumen Database record of this complaint (Notice ID: 101001876) reveals the scale of the takedown request. The complaint targeted 52 URLs on websites across major national and international news organisations, including The Economic Times, Business Standard, The Caravan, The Daily Pioneer, Business Today, Deccan Herald, ET Now, Financial Express, Livemint, Moneycontrol, Moneylife, NDTV Profit, The New Indian Express, Outlook Business, The Quint, Quartz, and NewsClick, along with posts on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and Scribd. Most of these reports on major corporate news websites remain accessible online. In fact, Item 39 on the Lumen takedown list is the original September 30, 2019 article published on NewsClick.in: newsclick.in/The-Maze-of-Pol…, which remains live and accessible as of now. Yet, in the case of paranjoy.in, the entire domain and every website hosted on my account were wiped off the internet. Hostinger's Baseless "Fraud/Scam" Claim and Demand for Accountability Hostinger did not cite the Patiala House Courts order when it suspended my account on October 28, 2026. Instead, its representative claimed that the hosting account was permanently suspended due to an abuse report for "Fraud/Scam". This allegation is demonstrably false: 1. VirusTotal Security Analysis: Independent domain checks conducted on October 28, 2026, at 7:48 AM and 7:54 AM on VirusTotal confirm that 0 out of 92 security vendors flagged paranjoy.in or media.paranjoy.in as malicious, phishing, or fraudulent. VirusTotal explicitly categorises paranjoy.in under "news and media". 2. Google Safe Browsing Status: Checks on the Google Safe Browsing diagnostic tool at 7:55 AM and 7:56 AM on October 28, 2026, for both paranjoy.in and adanifiles.paranjoy.in returned the status: "No unsafe content found". My website paranjoy.in does not sell financial products, solicit funds for commercial schemes, or engage in any activity that could remotely be classified as a scam. It is a repository of public-interest journalism, books, documentary films, and investigative reports built over a lifetime of work. By acting on a fabricated "Fraud/Scam" abuse report without a single verification check or prior notice to the domain owner, Hostinger has allowed its abuse-reporting mechanism to be weaponised to censor an independent journalist. Even where a court order directs the removal or de-indexing of a specific URL, a web hosting provider has no legal or ethical justification to pull down an entire domain and hundreds of unrelated articles, archives, and subdomains without notice. I demand immediate answers and accountability from Hostinger: 1. Who submitted the false "Fraud/Scam" abuse report against paranjoy.in, and on what exact date and time was it received? 2. What internal verification did Hostinger's abuse team conduct before classifying a 12-year-old journalism portal as a "Fraud/Scam" site, especially when 92 security vendors on VirusTotal and Google Safe Browsing show zero malicious or unsafe content? 3. Why was no prior notice, warning, or copy of the complaint sent to me before suspending the entire hosting account? 4. On what basis did Hostinger's specialist declare that the suspension of an entire archive of journalistic work is "not negotiable"? While my legal advisers are in the process of taking appropriate steps in court regarding the ex parte order dated October 24, 2026, and the wholesale suspension of my website, this backdoor censorship through web hosting providers sets a dangerous precedent for the independence of the media and freedom of expression as enshrined in Article (19)(1)(a) of the Constitution of India as a fundamental right of every citizen of India. Yours sincerely Paranjoy Guha Thakurta Independent Journalist, Author, Publisher and Maker of Documentary Films and Music Videos

Quick Commerce - category managers open loot. We all know what is/was happening. Folks like us decided to not engage. Entire world knows the under table dirty deals that happen to list products.
You’ll also see this happening in big corporates. Employees in procurement departments at consumer product companies sometimes receive kickbacks from manufacturers to get them approved as vendors, influence supplier selection, or secure larger orders.

Workshops, drills and exercises alone won’t cut it. Please abandon L1 tendering and go for QCBS approach. Third rate entities like eMudhra had no business getting so much government business. @GoI_MeitY @FinMinIndia Else things will become exponentially worse over time. If the Government of India in general exits industries entirely all this becomes less of a headache and more of a regulatory challenge - which is actually what the Indian State should focus itself on (rather than run massive banks, steel plants, power companies etc).
Amid rising AI-driven cyber risks and targeted cyber campaigns, CERT-In has successfully conducted a full-day cybersecurity exercise and drill for the BFSI sector on 27th October 2026.

The Instagram crackdown is not going to work! The government is taking down thousands of posts and accounts every day, but it seems to be missing a fundamental point. Instagram is just a platform where people are raising their questions. The reasons behind those questions exist far beyond social media, and taking down accounts won't make them disappear. If anything, this censorship risks creating even more distrust among the very people the government is supposed to answer to.

As someone who has personally spent $500k / mo+ on Google Ads for years, I can tell you with certainty: This revenue growth in Search is artificial & extremely unhealthy for Google’s business long term Search volumes are declining as legacy search is being increasingly cannibalized by non-monetized LLM queries Google’s response? Manufacture revenue growth via short-sighted, highly extractive, customer-hostile tactics. I.e. charge advertisers more for lower quality clicks, including clicks they do not want and explicitly did not approve Google to charge them for A few examples to illustrate: For all of its history until recently, Google operated on a 2nd price auction model I.e. if you bid $5 CPC and the next highest bidder bids $1 CPC, Google charged you $1.01 for the click (one penny more than the 2nd highest bidder) rather than the $5 you bid This was a genius move by Google early on as it incentivizes advertisers to input their true maximum willingness to pay rather than trying to play the game of bidding low and constantly adjusting to try to stay just ahead of the next highest bidder while still not paying too much However recently, Google silently deprecated the 2nd price auction and began charging advertisers as much as their bid and budget caps allow, regardless of what anyone else is bidding It’s a short-sighted cash grab at the expense of the long term health of the advertiser ecosystem Making thing worse, Google also recently nerfed keyword targeting precision Google previously had precise keyword targeting settings that allowed advertisers pick individual search phrases to bid on, defined down to the character w/ exact match or phrase match targeting This was one of the core features that made search advertising magic, enabling advertisers to run extremely precise campaigns based on exactly what their target customer typed But now, even if you bid on a specific term or phrase using the strictest exact -match targeting settings, Google will show your ad across 1000’s of unrelated keywords, labeling them as as “exact match (close variant)” The definition of “close variant” means whatever they want it to and changes constantly. The result is advertisers get billed for clicks that are totally irrelevant to their business and that their targeting settings explicitly forbid Google from targeting. Google does it anyway and there’s no ability to turn this off So now exact match is broad match, and broad match is just meaningless spam This is all very bad for advertisers, but for Google, it allows them to show your ad and bill you for clicks across 1000x more searches that were previously going unmonetized (mainly because they’re garbage queries no one wants) This is how you grow revenue atop declining search volumes Lastly, and perhaps most egregiously, Google quietly stopped respecting budget caps by a factor of 2x. For example campaigns we’ve been running for years with $1000 daily budget caps suddenly began spending $2000+ per day And the extra spend is entirely on the garbage keywords Google arbitrarily throws in as “exact match (close variants)” which have no value to our business, but can’t be turned off Google offers no refunds nor any recourse for overspend or spend on keywords you explicitly did not target These are not the actions of a healthy business. These are the actions of company whose core business is in decline but desperately needs to pump quarterly earnings so Wall Street will continue to fund insane capex while hopefully looking through their rapidly deteriorating negative free cash flow Google operated a benevolent monopoly for the better part of 25 yrs Meaning the value Google captured from Search was but a small fraction of the value it created, and that spread produced a potential energy that justified expectations of high earnings growth far, far into the future This is now no longer the case At the alter of AI capex, Google is sacrificing the golden goose
Q2 was an amazing quarter, with our AI investments redefining what’s possible across every part of our business. Alphabet revenue grew 24% YoY and Google Cloud accelerated to 82% growth. We saw exciting momentum across the board from Search to YouTube to the Gemini app (which reached 950M monthly active users). Our model APIs are processing 22B tokens/min (up from 16B+ last quarter) driven by our workhorse Flash models. We’re also seeing great adoption of Gemini Enterprise, used by 90% of the Fortune 100, as well as strong demand for our security solutions. Outstanding results and momentum, and such an exciting moment—thanks to all of our partners and employees around the world! 🙌 About to hop on the call!
