Evangelical organizers worry that the Republican Party's campaigning has overlooked conservative Christians. Lack of an authentic message + disappointment with admin's abortion policies has some concerned it'll affect turnout. Full story in thread:

I wrote this 3 years ago today, when Rs picked a guy so little known that a Google search of his name yielded a retired NHL player, a Toyota car dealer in NC, a country music steel guitarist. But not @SpeakerJohnson … He’s covered “over” bet on how long he’d last in job …

The people that hold Congress together are the Laura Lytle’s of the world. Not high profiles but doing critically important jobs so rest of us can function. Here’s a tribute to her as told through her good friend Joe Keenan. Full interview here: piped.video/watch?v=pgM9MkIM…
Joe Keenan remembers his friend and successor Laura Lytle, who directed the Senate Daily Press Gallery. He says she was funny, brilliant and the kind of coworker who could solve any problem.

Dems have two old-timers running in Ohio when the public mood is yet again change. But Sherrod Brown and Marcy Kaptur have been doing the new change thing — blue-collar populism — since Reagan had two more years in his term. @pkcapitol takes a look. washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…

No one has walked the walk on worker issues like @SherrodBrown @Marcy_Kaptur - Dems are rushing to embrace their ethos. Yet their legitimacy (more than 75 years in Congress pushing agenda) could be their kryptonite. My @washingtonsun column ... washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…

Supporters in OH told me age & tenure in Washington doesn't matter. Their mantra: "We need fighting blood", not "new blood." Brown & Kaptur have fought that fight. Now the issue is whether Rs unyielding ads about how old they are will turn voters away. washingtonsun.com/campaigns/…

And yes, it took about 5 minutes inside a carpenters union hall to find a 26-year-old white guy who voted for Biden in '20, Trump in '24 & and is now attending Sherrod rallies outside Toledo. He blames Iran war for an extra $100 a week on gas, driving to his carpenter jobs.

If you’re not into reading, you can watch the full Durbin podcast exit interview here. It’s an interesting ride. washingtonsun.com/podcast
Read @pkcapitol on Durbin, the longest serving party whip in Senate history, who wanted to end his career walking out the front door "rather than be carried out the back.” On Harry Reid going nuclear: “He was warned ahead of time there would be retribution. It all occurred and we’re still suffering from that." And on why Dems shouldn't follow McConnell rule on SCOTUS: washingtonsun.com/congress/d…

I think we all need a reset on what a wave/tsunami looks like in 2026. If Dems net 20 seats, that’s half as many as they flipped in the 2018 blue wave, but would still tie their final margin from 8 years ago. Dems start this midterm with a much higher floor.
Neither party is spending in a way that would indicate a tsunami.

Yesterday was the 25th anniversary of the first anthrax letter being opened in Hart Senate Office Building.
Like has happened across the country, my Minnesota office was sent a letter containing a suspicious substance, and we were promptly notified by the Capitol Police and postal inspectors. Thanks to the postal workers and investigators who identified and intercepted it, no one in our office was in immediate danger. We’re grateful to everyone involved for their quick response and we will continue working closely with law enforcement as the investigation continues.
