What if we stop asking only how cells build tissues and ask how tissues shape cells?
That’s what we’ll explore at Modelling Life from Tissues to Cells 🇨🇭

We’re hiring at @ETH_BSSE in Basel! 📣
We are looking for a Head of our new Research Data Management Facility to help build the facility from the ground up and shape how we manage and connect complex research data across imaging, omics, modelling and AI.

Using mouse intestinal regeneration + organoids, we find a critical intermediate tissue density acts as a regenerative timer: only in this window does heterogeneity in the mechanosensor YAP1 emerge, encoding lineage-biased competence at the chromatin level.
FOXA1 reads out the YAP1 state and couples it to Delta–Notch feedback, generating fate bistability. That bistability stores a memory of transient YAP1 activity — converting fleeting heterogeneity into stable, self-organized tissue architecture. 🧬

We’re excited to share that ez_zarr now supports Zarr v3! 🚀 Huge thanks to @mbstadler & Charlotte Soneson who took on the challenge of creating this open-source tool for fast, programmatic access to OME-Zarr file sets + easy plotting 📊
