🚨 BREAKING: APC police have fired teargas at Nigerians commemorating the 6th anniversary of the October 20, 2020 Lekki Toll Gate massacre. Six years later, instead of allowing citizens to honour the victims, the same government is using force against those demanding justice. #EndSARS #EndSARSMemorial

NIGERIANS MAKE ONA NO SLEEP O @inecnigeria has refused to publish the voters register ONLINE. Even offline sef, as per @ARISEtv report, it wasn’t published in some polling units in Lagos and people have to personally request for it. No be so o! The danger of waiting till day of election is that if your name is missing from your polling units, you will be disenfranchised and won’t vote o! Why are opposition sleeping? @PeterObi @KwankwasoRM @atiku @seyimakinde @sowore @NGRSenate @iamHSDickson Make ona no sleep o INEC is already flaunting the electoral laws.
Am I overthinking this? Because I am genuinely struggling to understand what is happening in Nigeria. @inecnigeria has disregarded the Electoral Act by failing to publish the voters’ register online for public scrutiny, even after the statutory 90-day deadline has passed. Even under Mahmood Yakubu, the register was published online, with a mechanism for complaints and objections. Today, NOTHING! And somehow, the country has moved on like nothing happened. WHERE IS THE OUTRAGE? Apart from @ARISEtv and @fijnigeria, where is the Nigerian media? Where are @YIAGA, @EUinNigeria @EU_SDGN , @NDI and the other civil society organisations? @NigeriaNDCHQ .@ADCNig ARE YOU PEOPLE SLEEPING? Are you actually preparing for this election? This is the voters’ register we are talking about. THE VERY FOUNDATION OF AN ELECTION! INEC has effectively said, “To hell with public scrutiny. Do your worst.” And our collective response is SILENCE. I am genuinely pained. We complain about electoral malpractice and compromised institutions, yet when it is time to demand accountability BEFORE an election, everybody suddenly goes quiet. Must we wait until votes are cast and results are disputed before we start shouting? Seriously, am I the only one who finds this silence deeply disturbing?

6 years on 🕊️ We will never ever forget our true heroes. Your immeasurable sacrifice remains a landmark moment in our story. Before the guns went off, we witnessed real selflessness and patriotism in moments when we abandoned our personal differences for one common goal. I hope that we can find our way back there someday. 🙏🏽

“Those who suffered gunshot (at Lekki tollgate), need to answer some questions too. Why were they there? What kind of characters are they? Sanwo-Olu did the right thing. I’m still the Jagaban.” — Bola Tinubu reacting to #EndSARS mas/sacre October 24, 2020.

ENDSARS LEKKI TOLL GATE: NEVER FORGET OCTOBER 20, 2020 Today, October 20, 2026, marks the sixth anniversary of the Lekki Toll Gate shootings, a painful reminder of the price Nigerian youths paid in their demand for a better country. On that fateful night, peaceful #EndSARS protesters were met with gunfire. Lives were lost, many were injured, and the nation was left with questions about justice, accountability, and the sanctity of human life. We must never forget. We must never normalise injustice. As we remember the victims, I reaffirm my belief that a New Nigeria is possible—a country where citizens are protected, not brutalised; where young people are heard, not silenced; and where government power is exercised with responsibility and respect for human rights. Nigeria must become a nation where no citizen is punished for demanding good governance and a better future. May the souls of the departed continue to rest in peace. May their sacrifice strengthen our resolve to build a Nigeria where this tragedy will never be repeated. A New Nigeria is POssible. A Nigeria where every life matters. -PO
