The case raises a critical question: can financial institutions market themselves as champions of sustainability while supporting major fossil fuel infrastructure?

The complaint calls on the regulator to scrutinise whether the bank’s claims of sustainable finance, climate action and leadership in Africa’s just energy transition are adequately substantiated against the environmental and human rights impacts of the projects it finances.
