Very sad to hear about the passing of Boris Tabakoff. Boris had an incredible career and influence in the alcohol research field. We've had an ongoing collaboration for over a decade and I always enjoyed our discussions and was looking forward to our lunches at RSA and SFN. You will be missed by many, rest in peace Boris. millerfhed.com/obituaries/dr…

Michael Levin kills me. Because there's an interesting observation here (that maybe you can bias cortical cultures to grow in a certain direction), confounded by the lack of an effective control (checking to see if you can bias cortical cultures to grow in any other direction or if you've just made them always go left no matter what), completely muddled by some nonsense theory (something about "training cells out of disease states"). All of his papers are like this. An interesting, usually unreproducible observation; zero interest in effective controls or interrogating whether it's a robust phenomenon; a lot of handwaving on top.
Ever wonder if eventually cells could be trained out of disease states? We're on the path; first steps: New #preprint - @WesleyPClawson "Goal directed closed-loop training of network bursts in cortical cultures produces improved performance and error correction over days" biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

This does not mean they are devoid of side effects. Hppd is real as is psychosis. Both apparently relatively rare but if it happens to you or a loved one little solace.
How is it that quacks keep saying this stuff? There's literally no toxicity from psychedelics. They are among the safest medicines on the planet.

The VA has picked ten sites for the first approved psychedelic therapies. A senior VHA adviser at Horizons: it’ll be “a challenge in the first year to treat four digits’ worth of patients.” About 2.1 million veterans in VA care have PTSD or depression. This week’s psychedelic policy briefing ↓

Watch Supplementary Video 4 🔥 I still remember @DR_WANG_SIBCB showed this video at the Psychedelics GRC and it drew an audible gasp from the audience
Our new study reveals how 5-HT2A receptor β-arrestin signaling and psychedelic kinetics enable lasting antidepressant-like effects with fewer hallucinogenic-like effects, opening new avenues for psychedelic-inspired antidepressant design. (1/6) doi.org/10.1038/s41593-026-0…

Considering the endless list of factors required for anything to happen, one can only admit that everything is responsible for everything, however remote. Doership is a myth born from the illusion of ‘me’ and ‘the mine’

Sadly I'm going to miss this important conference....
Just saw a psychedelic conference post saying it was "the most important research in human history." The egos in psychedelic research are next level. I used to hear this stuff all the time at Hopkins, about this research saving the human species. I've been doing psychedelic research for 22 years and I don't even do the most important research in my own family!! (my wife does research informing how to save babies deprived of oxygen during childbirth).
