I genuinely do not know if learning to code is a smart move at this point. Why? Well, I do know that already knowing how to code is incredibly useful. But it took decades to master, and who knows how long it will stay useful? I think we have enough coders to bridge us to the point where we no longer need coders.

The greatest skill one can develop is decreasing the time between idea and execution.

A CS undergrad asked me where he could have most effect in the AI age. I said probably at either extreme: either close to the technology, actually making LLMs, or close to the customer, using AI to give them exactly what they want. Or maybe both if you can stretch that far.

I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
