New research shows Canadians see nature as a foundation for economic resilience, with broad support for practical policies that turn that belief into investment. Conversations about Canada’s economic future often focus on what we need to build: infrastructure, industries, trading relationships and new sources of growth. But an important part of that future also depends on how we invest in the strengths already around us: our forests, farmlands, wetlands and waters. Our latest research for Canada’s Nature Advantage shows that Canadians increasingly recognize this connection. At a time of persistent economic anxiety, nature remains a source of confidence in Canada’s long-term prospects. abacusdata.ca/canadians-are-…

NEW ABACUS POLL: The Ontario Liberals have the largest pool of potential voters. 54% would consider voting Liberal. 47% would consider voting PC. 45% would consider voting NDP. The Liberals have room to grow. The challenge is converting that openness into actual support. abacusdata.ca/ford-pcs-slip-…

75% of Albertans voted to stay in Canada. But Danielle Smith's UCP base is split almost evenly on separation. Tonight's address may be one of the most consequential of her premiership. Does she try to keep her party together or offer a bigger vision for Alberta? My latest: davidcoletto.substack.com/p/…

With 75% of Albertans voting to remain in Canada in yesterday’s historic referendum, the question now turns to what comes next. Our latest Abacus Data survey, conducted before the vote, offers a clear picture of what Albertans want their provincial government to focus on. Despite months of debate about independence, the public’s priorities are overwhelmingly focused on affordability, health care, housing, and economic opportunity. Eighty-seven percent worry about the cost of living, while 83% are concerned about public services keeping pace with population growth. When asked what the government should prioritize next year, 43% choose affordability and 38% health care. Just 6% select independence. Even among Option 2 supporters, only one in four place independence among their top three priorities. Albertans also see significant opportunities in pipelines, LNG exports, and stronger international trade relationships, with considerable agreement across the referendum divide. But the government faces a challenge. Seventy-seven percent rate its performance on affordability poorly, 70% on housing, and 64% on health care. The referendum has settled the immediate constitutional question. Our research suggests the next political challenge is addressing the issues Albertans care about most, regardless of how they voted. Did not expect this. October surprise?
Why I am supporting BRADFORD for MAYOR of Toronto. Because Bradford listens. Evaluates new information, and if necessary, he changes opinion. Which is what good mayors must do. Chow? Not much done past 3 years. Future? No ideas. No bold projects. Wasted opportunity.

Ottawa can’t afford to take a step backwards or gamble with its future. This isn’t the time for risky promises or uncertainty. I’ve presented a clear plan to keep taxes low and build on the progress we’ve made.
