The men and women who wear their country’s uniform are among the best of us. My prayers are with the families who lost loved ones at @CanadianForces CFB Wainright, and with those injured in this tragedy.

Our Executive Board held a special moment of silence today for our brother from Durham who made the ultimate sacrifice this morning. My prayers are with his family & friends, our brothers and sisters in Local 668, and the two members injured. May they have a full recovery.

🚨 The call for action on lithium-ion battery safety is growing across Canada. The @globeandmail Editorial Board is urging policymakers to close regulatory gaps as fires involving e-bikes, e-scooters, and other battery-powered devices become more common.

Tommy Miller served his country, his community, and his union with pride. He understood what this job asks of us and our families – and over nearly 50 years of service, he never forgot it. God bless Tommy, his wife Barb, and the entire Miller family. May he rest in peace.
🙏 The IAFF is saddened to announce the passing of General Secretary-Treasurer Emeritus Thomas H. “Tommy” Miller. A second-generation fire fighter, Navy veteran, and lifelong union leader, Tommy served 37 years with the Indianapolis Fire Department.

We remember all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on Sept. 11. Thousands and thousands of people are alive today because of their heroic rescue efforts. Twenty-five years later, we #NeverForget.
Today, we honor the 343 FDNY members and one New York City fire patrolman killed on Sept. 11, 2001, the thousands of others who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks, and all those who have died since from WTC-related illnesses. Twenty-five years later, we will #NeverForget.

Nothing gained was given. It was won by fire fighters and emergency medical workers who stood together and fought for each other. Labor Day honors those who came before us – and reminds us to leave the job better for the members and families who come after us.
This #LaborDay, we honor the generations of #IAFF members who have built our union and those carrying it forward today. #UnionStrong

For 72 years, the #IAFF and @MDAorg have stood together, raising more than $720 million. At the 58th #IAFFConvention, that partnership took on new meaning with research examining why #firefighters may face an increased risk of #ALS. brnw.ch/21x4UFk

We refuse to accept the status quo. Convention is where we come together and raise our sights. It’s where we reaffirm our commitment to leave the union better than we found it. This #IAFF is #AllIn — for the job, for each other, and for the future.

In an emergency, you expect enough firefighters to respond. A year after the Gabriel House fire, unsafe staffing levels in fire depts remain a reality across the US & Canada. May God bless the 10 residents who died. In their memory, we continue our fight for safe staffing.
One year ago tomorrow, 10 people died in the Gabriel House fire in Fall River. @IAFF1314 #firefighters helped rescue 53. In memory of those who died, we keep fighting for the safe staffing every community needs.

Three wildland fire fighters died yesterday battling the Snyder Fire in Colorado. They were doing the dangerous work fire fighters do: protecting communities in unforgiving conditions. The IAFF extends our condolences to their families, friends, and crews.
