Since Litecoin launched on 13 October 2011, Coinmarketcap has estimated more than 60 million cryptocurrencies have appeared. Among former ‘Top 100’ projects, Cryptorank’s research shows only 71.9% still exist, and even fewer remain active. Well, Litecoin hasn’t left the leaderboard since launch. Ever. While market cap is one way to measure Litecoin’s success, there’s so much more to the project’s 15 years of existence. And this piece is celebrating 15 milestones that’ve had a profound impact on the space, the project, and Litecoin’s users.

15 YEARS OF LITECOIN: FROM 2011 TO 2026
Since its launch in 2011, litecoin:native has weathered multiple bull and bear markets, countless competitors, and a rapidly evolving crypto industry.
Created by @SatoshiLite as a faster alternative to Bitcoin, Litecoin became widely known as the “silver to Bitcoin’s gold.”
With faster block generation, Scrypt-based mining, and a maximum supply of 84 million LTC, it carved out its own identity in the digital asset ecosystem.
Over the years, Litecoin has continued to focus on its original vision of peer-to-peer digital payments while remaining a recognizable name in crypto.
Fifteen years is a significant milestone in an industry that never stands still.
The next chapter will be shaped by adoption, utility, and the community that continues to support the network.
