You're wrong there. England doesn't have a official language. (Wales does, though!)

Do you know any civil servants? When you sign up, as well as the Official Secrets Acts, you literally have to sign up to doing the role in an impartial way. No-one can employ a whole 'civil service' chosen by a political party, it defeats the basic objectives.

Amazing BBC article: "Pension Commission to look at why four-in-ten fail to save enough". It finds people with less money put less money aside... #NoShitSherlock #CostOfLivingCrisis

I was interested to find out that the original state pension age (when life expectancy was lower) was 70. And pensions then were means tested.

How can offspring 'overwhelmingly skip a generation'? That defies the meaning of the word. It's literally a time frame grouping one set of humans who produce the next set (or "generation") of humans.

In the UK we call it 'mackerel sky' and have done since the 1600s.

Talking of clear knowledge, you'll be pleased to find out who was a key player in setting up the ECHR...

Say what you like about British window design, such as they're crap for ventilation in hot weather - but we definitely don't have thing with people falling out of them...

Wrong. I've worked since I was 16, and then through university. Paying for myself. As I said to another person on this thread:

Reminds me of this that used to be across the river from Newcastle. Was used on a Tudor Crisps advert in the 70s/80s.

I know it's not quite a castle, but you can get a Grade 1 listed stately home in the NE of England for around £3mill. I'm sure I saw a semi in London for that price on Homes Under the Hammer.... 😄

He thinks it's edgy to look like that. It might have been when he was 20, but he just looks like a scruffy old man now.

Haven't had it before, but definitely want it now! My gran used to have her teasmade next to a bedside lamp made from an old Vat 69 whisky bottle - I loved it! 😁 #70s #80s

That's nothing like it - your pic shows houses 3 stories high, with front gardens! Here's a similar street to the OP, in Britain...

Have you chopped each one in half?! Surely the slices should stay whole, for a proper banjo - that way you never know when the yolk will pop!

Buying an actual clothes line for £2.99 will save you spending around £50 for the fancy one, though...

Usually I don’t comment much on people's appearance, but Brad Pitt is 5 years older than Rees-Mogg. Which of the two looks like they are healthier, have a better 'physique'? Which looks like they've had a hard paper round? 🤔

15.60 for Marlboro Lights now in the UK. All cigarettes come in olive green packs, theoretically to look as unattractive as possible. They aren't on display in shops - you have to ask for what you want before staff open the magical metal-shuttered cupboard. 🙃
