A lot of build players(myself included) hate Ch5+anims because fast turns causes character models to awkwardly tilt, stretch or squat. Old vs new animations on the exact same freebuild: Notice how with the old animations, the player model is always upright with its feet planted.
Here is a thread of Fortnite movement "issues" I've noticed (updating as I find more). Some are fixable, while others are just inherent to motion matching. I really hope Epic brings back the OG animations (state machines) in Chapter 8. @TimSweeneyEpic @JustTeddii @EpicTofuChris @HaroldAtEpic ---------------------------------------------------------------- 1. when changing directions, the character fully leans like is lost balance and the legs start scrambling.

as I've already said, most of the people who have got the token don't even really play the game. the very people that keep the game alive are being told to fuck off while those that don't even play get rewarded it's just a massive slap in the face
UPDATE: CHEST REWARDS ARE LIKELY SBMM BASED You are more likely to get chest rewards by not only playing Squad Fills, but also if the SBMM is on the LOWER END This is so that returning players / new players / more casual players that don't play BR often, have chances to get it.

From CH1-CH4, you could crouch sprint(which was on by default, and what everyone used) and you could crouch walk(significantly slower). From Chapter 5 onwards, they removed crouch sprinting as a mechanic completely, leaving players with the crouch walk speeds.

8 Months ago Epic Games raised the price of V-Bucks because they need to "help pay the bills" 8 Months later and Epic Games is doing a treasure hunt, allowing players who find the Pirate Shop Token to get the entire Item Shop for FREE for 14 days (twice, once in 2026, once in 2027)

as much as I hate to complain, they should explore bringing back older options that made the game great. unique & decluttered ui, 3d lobbies, chapter 4 art style, full snow (ch8 launch), & old movement (I know, don't stone me). that would make me want to play again

No, @Fortnite, this isn’t something you can simply ignore, hoping we’ll eventually grow quiet and move on. And, Fortnite, I wouldn’t be surprised if you tried implementing some middle-ground solution or compromise, but let me be clear: that is not what we are asking for. We don’t merely want the new movement modified. We want the old movement back. We want the movement we spent seven years playing with, the movement that became second nature to us, the movement we grew up with, built memories around, and ultimately fell in love with. We will not stop asking for it. Fortnite is in desperate need of the magic it once had, and bringing back the movement that defined years of our experience would be a step in the right direction. Bring Back Old Movement.

Around chapter 4. Epic stopped seeing Fortnite as a video game but more as a platform for UEFN metaverse and a perfect place to demo Unreal engine features. The core battle royale is seemingly no longer top priority. This change in direction has led to -Transition from state machines(Og anims) to Motion matching(Ch5+ anims) - UI redesign, removal of rarities, etc - Continuous push of the discovery system - Shift in art style.
with all the talk around Fortnite going back to "wonky graphics" in the future, I just wanna say that I still believe THIS is easily the best this game has ever looked

Fortnite Movement System is BROKEN🔴 🔰Quick movements are impossible to be made since game mechanics slow you down to match animation motion 🔰The animations can a lot of times glitch and look beyond weird, specially near structures 🔰All unique Pick Axe walk animations you payed for are gone to allow "Motion Matching" 🔰When switching weapons Motion Matching slows you down for a bit harming gameplay responsiveness 🔰Switching weapons also make your character walk super weirdly 🔰Any type of fast movement feels beyond clunky because it confuses the motion matching system 🔰Ch1 - Ch4 used state matching system But ch5 - Ch 7 uses Motion Matching, causing this 🔰Motion matching is ONLY used in Open World games... NEVER tactical shooter games 🔰Videos are collected by: @Tragicfv WHY DID FORTNITE DO THIS?🔴 🔰Motion Matching was new to Unreal Engine 5 and Epic Games wanted to show it off, they chose Fortnite as the perfect place to make a demo of this feature and how exactly it works SO NO, this was never done because its good for the games future, it was never done as a useful evolution to Fortnite, addition of Motion Matching is purely UE5 advertisement How do we feel about Epic being willing to harm Fortnite gameplay for the sake of treating it as an Unreal Engine demo? 🥲

If they listened to their community on this Fortnite would 100% see a player increase. Anyways I hope epic games makes the right decision and reverts 🙏

Completely understand this- what happened was wrong but at the same time, just because there are a few bad apples doesn’t make the whole bunch bad I don’t know if every player should have to suffer for a small group of the community’s actions. Nor do I think the Dev team should resist improving their game out of fear. I think the community has valid reasons to ask the Devs to take a look at the animations that aren’t whining (like it was in CH5). If you haven’t already we’d really appreciate it if you took a look at @tragicfv post on this

Personally even though I’m a fan of the old animations, I never went as far to do crazy things as some other ppl did . With this being the only comment that any epic staff has made about the animations since 2023, I don’t think it’s ever coming back. My apologies to the team members who got doxxed and death threats.

Seriously, not for me with that. Death threats and Doxxing to team members over anims, I'm not even entertaining the convo about it. Full stop. I already get enough from the Ranked audience as is. Not my expertise.

WHY NEW FORTNITE MOVEMENT IS SO HATED🛑 I have talked about this before, Fortnite Movement is HORRIBLE… because the system used in its creation is ONLY used in either realistic story games or Open World games like GTA This movement system is NOT ever used for tactical skill based shooter games like Fortnite, because it is clunky, it slows down movement, and is not consistent or fast enough Tactical games like Fortnite or Call of Duty etc instead use a State Matching system that is extremely responsive and quick, making it so quick movements don’t feel clunky or weird at all Fortnite replaced that with Motion Matching because this game is basically a demo for Unreal Engine 💀so no matter if good or bad, new unreal engine tech will be promoted inside Fortnite How we feel on this?
