25 years with the iPod today. I had written about mine back for the 20th: paulstamatiou.com/revisiting…
i don’t know who needs to hear this but don’t update to macOS Tahoe if you use 3 dongles to connect to your original iPod via FireWire. Tahoe removes FireWire support

well, if you were on the fence about the iPhone Duo i think i just found the reason to get one there's an app called Tiny Computers that lets you use old computers like the iMac G3 and Commodore 64 in tabletop mode apps.apple.com/us/app/tiny-c…

nice! you'll get a kick out of poke-holo.simey.me/ and
So excited to share one of my white-whale projects: a fully physics-based, holographic foil shader. Each pixel simulates a ray of light diffracting into a rainbow of waves, which add and subtract to create these incredible patterns. Not a single gradient was used here!

i use mine so much. using it right now at a coffee shop. definitely easier when i have my mac mini at home as my home base and just work from it remotely (currently have my Orca connected to the Orca on the mini for the extra hp)

but yea, nothing replaces the feeling of directly crafting a minute interaction like that something yourself

it's a different kind of satisfaction because you can do things in a project that you normally couldn't prioritize due to needing to flesh out more primary surface areas

tiny example - i have a personal project that stores my bookmarks/podcasts, does embeddings, summarizes, lets me chat + mcp with them among other things i had the logo (stack of books metaphor) turn into a loading state when it's working. still needs a few more tweaks claude and i went through a few dozen variations then i guided it on the motion i had in mind

nothing that hasn't already been said before but it's so much fun to be building with ai these days i've been slowly working on an article for something and there's one interactive piece i use to show a concept. i gave opus a picture of a proprietary font that isn't available and a few minutes later i had it as a woff2 ready to use and im finding myself using opus 5.5 a lot more for creating custom icons and getting them lottie friendly. you still need to be heavily involved (maybe run through 30 variations before you find a style you like, then tweak) but this is still pretty magical

extremely impressive roadster demo.. what a feat of engineering. the design leaves some to be desired (the new Porsche Mission S that came out today is more interesting imo) but i know they aggressively optimized aero
