Now in NYC, Postdoc @asrc_gc: allostery in human PTPs w/ #xrays & #xtals.
Views my own.
Demis -- I think AlphaFold3 is really exciting. As Reviewer #3, I got great results from the server. I tried hard to get @Nature to urge you to release the code but was unsuccessful. I did not get it for re-review so I don't know if you responded. So why no code? @GoogleDeepMind
Thrilled to announce AlphaFold 3 which can predict the structures and interactions of nearly all of life’s molecules with state-of-the-art accuracy including proteins, DNA and RNA. Biology is a complex dynamical system so modeling interactions is crucial blog.google/technology/ai/go…
Great to see former colleagues @DanielKeedy, Liliana & @DrAliEbrahim connect-the-(diffraction)-dots I left behind in my postdoc! Congrats to LG on her first 1st auth too!
The Keedy lab at the @asrc_gc is seeking a computational #postdoc! Lots of exciting project directions linking protein structure, dynamics, allostery, bioinformatics, design, ... We're well funded, & are in a green pocket of NYC. Apply here: rfcuny.org/careers/postings?… RTs welcome!
@standupmaths Hi Matt, I have a life-long interest in date curios & I've just seen today's ISO date+time palindrome 2021112211202 - I notice the next one is 20211211211202, which if you lop the century & seconds off is 2112112112, ty
Big fan of the Gemmi toolkit for #xtallography (@ccp4_mx / GΦL), and its cif & mtz command-line tools.
Now also available via : 💻 `brew tap brewsci/bio; brew install gemmi`

Our new preprint on multitemperature crystallography of SARS-CoV-2 Mpro is out! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…@DrAliEbrahim & @blake_riley took a detailed look at how Mpro reacts to being cooled/heated. We hope this helps ongoing antiviral design efforts (e.g. by @covid_moonshot).
Not a cloud in the sky, but still foggy - first run of the year! @ProteinChandler will you be putting some miles into the #TeamBDI#NOTDRS running shirt where you are now?
ALT A 2 μL droplet, viewed through a microscope, which contains tens of well-defined protein crystals.
Birefringence and a polarized light source casts an aesthetic rainbow effect across the entire image.
This is so amazing. So much fantastic structural biology and biophysics done in so short time!
Reminder to our politicians: This has only been possible because ALL the methods and instruments had been developed and ALL the people had been trained BEFORE the pandemic!!

Thoroughly enjoyed the first training with the BDI footy team tonight - this squad is going to bring some competition to the field! 💪🏽 @MonashBDI@MonashUni
