BREAKING:
South Korea recalls its ambassador from Ukraine.
Under president Lee Jae Myung, the country has moved closer to China, North Korea and Russia while distancing itself from the West.
It was recently revealed that fuel )mostly diesel) was loaded at South Korean ports and shipped to Russia this summer.
About 176,000 tonnes moved on 7 tankers making 14 voyages, with three of those tankers under UK/EU/Canadian/Australian sanctions.
Some of the fuel was bought by Russiaโs Rosneft, which is under U.S. sanctions, creating a risk for South Korean entities to be hit by U.S. secondary sanctions.
South Koreaโs actions also risk creating a diplomatic crisis with Europe, Canada and Australia.
