Vučić is desperately offering energy concessions to buy US support before the elections. The latest report that Hungarian MOL has signed an agreement to buy out Russia's stake in Serbian NIS is the latest manipulation. Iron Gate 3 and LNG are more promises to buy time. Russia will not surrender its energy leverage in Serbia. Russia will never give up its energy in Serbia. Putin needs Vučić in power. Moscow backs him and Putin endorsed him several weeks ago.. and reports of Russian intelligence is helping his regime counter protests. Meanwhile, Vučić’s people in Washington portray him as Putin’s victim, pointing to Serbian weapons reaching Ukraine. Vučić is no helpless victim: Serbia’s arms exports serve whoever pays, while Russian intelligence retains room to operate. CPAC and EXPO 2027 are part of the same desperate PR campaign to sell Vučić as pro-Western while he cooperates with Russia, China and Iran. He wants the West to believe that without him, the Balkans will descend into chaos….the same blackmail Milošević used in the 1990s. I saw reports on arrests and intimidation and they reveal a regime afraid of losing control. Before October 25, the West should declassify intelligence on potential provocations and expose covert operations threatening Serbia’s people and institutions.
