The biggest mistake we made (still making) as an industry is assuming that web3 games can win overnight. (Insert your favourite games) ie. Call of duty, Minecraft, Fortnite, Candy crush were created in 2003, 2008, 2011, 2012 respectively. Spanning almost 20 years on average to achieve the level of distribution that they have today. So while AI continues to make games easier to build (mostly slop), getting people to care will always be a different ball game and very few games will be able to go through that gauntlet As you were.
I dont think anyone knows how cooked venture investing in "web3 gaming" is. Friend of mine who's an investor at one of the most prolific funds from the 2020 - 2025 era says his partners have BANNED him from even looking at games. gg

Ngl the call-out FUD post by these guys generated much more engagement/interest and far exceeded the KOL-strategy they paid dollars for. Lesson in there.
Crypto Twitter KOLs are a fucking scam. And we have the numbers to prove why. We hired 200+ KOLs with 10M+ combined followers. Every single one had a 400+ Sorsa score and 100+ Smart Followers. Most had 1,000+ Sorsa. 200+ KOLs posted twice each. Our result? 280 NFTs sold at $5. Now let’s talk about this circus. Fake views. Fake likes. AI-generated replies that don’t even understand what the project does. The same fucking accounts liking and replying to each other in engagement groups, recycling engagement and pretending they’re influential. You have 200K followers but can’t prove you have actual buyers. You’re scared of referral deals because deep down you know nobody will click your links, buy anything or convert. YOU HAVE BOTTED FOLLOWERS, NOT INFLUENCE. And the funniest part? You genuinely think you’re marketing professionals. You’re a bunch of engagement farmers playing influencer, selling fake numbers to projects and calling it a career. Our team tested this firsthand. We were ready to pay for influence, but got fucking nothing. And you wonder why CT is dying? Why projects are cutting deals? Why marketing teams are moving to TikTok and Instagram? BECAUSE NOBODY WANTS TO PAY FOR YOUR BULLSHIT ANYMORE. Honestly, go work at McDonald’s. At least you’ll serve people something useful instead of selling projects fake engagement and pretending to be important. 200+ KOLs. 10M+ followers. 280 NFTs sold. That’s your fucking influence.

Over $1 BILLION lost by Kalshi combo buyers, according to InGame. Market makers have earned roughly $520 million after fees. One detail deserves more scrutiny: persistent account IDs let market makers recognize repeat bettors and decide whether to quote them. Kalshi says “we never limit customers for winning.” What’s that worth if market makers can track your account and stop quoting you once they realize you’re not a fish? You risk ending up with professional firms selling overpriced parlays to the customers who will be financially ruined by these products. The prediction market industry calls this “price discovery.” States call it gambling. As someone who “gambled” for 20+ years, I can assure you it’s gambling. And a particularly insidious form when you obscure how predatory it is by rebranding parlays as “combos” and betting as “trading.” These sites can and should do better.
Kalshi parlay takers have now lost more than $1 billion since the feature launched last year, after a huge surge in popularity this football season, an InGame analysis shows. Since parlays first became available in September 2025, Kalshi’s total volume on multi-leg trades has been $165.6 billion. Taker stakes — the closest equivalent to sportsbook handle — are $7.1 billion, and takers have lost $1.004 billion.

Parking capital in crypto; (DEFI) as a strategy is cooked The siege we've seen on defi, Exchanges and crypto hacks in 2026 are a sign that keeping large sums of money onchain in order to run a business is getting unsustainable The security situation in crypto CANNOT be fixed overnight. Blockchain and hacks are similar to a typical "bread and mold" relationship The solution here in the near term would be to use nimble and instant-settlement products onchain that allows users to hold little capital on these DeFi products. Agents, predictions, gaming, consumer and social products fit this new paradigm. The industry is changing and we must evolve with it.

Bars here by @0xdith btw. I've always said this Building for ONLY the few people in crypto makes absolutely no sense, when; 1. They rarely fit your ICP (ideal customer profile) 2. They are high-spending (but cost you tons to acquire) 3. They are so few 4. They are largely unretainable except you're building a unicorn (Hyperliquid) It's just not as +EV.
People use “web2” and “web3” as if these are comparable audiences They’re not Web3 is ~50k ppl onchain Web2 is 6 billion people on the internet every day So yeah there’s a LITTLE difference

moving forward unless you have insane distribution or are solving a genuinely hard problem, it’s hard to see why anyone would pay for your software.
