Violent crackdown on Ambedkarite & anticaste activists today at IIT Bombay is shocking. 50+ students have died on IIT campuses. A student's parents are on a hunger strike for justice against a prof who didnt follow establish protocol. Instead of working transparently & introspecting its casteist culture-- IIT Bombay & Police detained activists & protestors violently & hassled the parents. When institutions become more important than students. When people dont ask what is structurally wrong & instead caste-shame a dead student & his grieving parents-- you know you are in a morally dead society. No high-fancy rhetoric can rebrand or rescue it. Jai Bhim.

Looks like Indian Express will single handedly take down the govt 🙌 They are now exposing another case of apparent corruption Where govt owned missile manufacturing company BDL awarded a contract to a private company WITHOUT any competition AND to top it all to a company owned by the wife of the ex chief of BDL 🤯 If this turns out to be true, then we are possibly looking at a situation where the rot is far deeper than what meets the eye In the name of Pakistan and Religion to win elections after elections, a lot seems to have been compromised I just wonder, has the leadership lost control and can’t rein in the independent fiefdoms that have sprung up in every corner of the country ? Is it beyond their control ? Or is it a deliberate choice to be so ? I don’t have an answer What do you think 🙏 But, amidst all this India and Indians definitely need some ideas to heal 🙏🙏

Where is @abhijeet_dipke? Where is @neha_aisa? Detaining them without disclosing their whereabouts is blatantly illegal and deeply inhumane. The Union Government must release them immediately and stop suppressing peaceful protests. Every attempt to crush the movement will only make it stronger. #GyaneshKumarMustGo. The Union BJP Government has no other option. @cockroachisback @SFI_CEC @AISA_Official_ @Aishe_Ghosh @SauravDassss @AshutoshRanka @Dhruv_Rathee #CJP #Delhi
Neha has been detained alone and taken to an unknown location! They don't have their phone! Delhi Police must answer: where is Neha? Once again an abduction, not detention!

These people have no shame parading their caste and still think Brit’s created the CS. Beautiful rotten sick brains.
We are Telugu Brahmins. Our ancestors migrated to Tamil Nadu some 500+ years ago. We still converse in Telugu at home, identify as "Telunga" and marry mainly within Telugu Brahmins in TN. You don't sell out your mother tongue just to blend in with the majority.

most toxic problem in Indian univs is equating rigor with "strictness". When tapasya-pariksha culture replaces curiosity & exploration-- you get a pressure cooker. Real issue is how this system treats "failure" & "cheating". Most teachers default think students are lazy, spoilt cuz back when they were students it was so much worse & it made them "stronger" This obsession w. strength IS the weakness. Pressures on marginalized caste, low income, first gen students is unbearable. This should be a moment to look at our exam toxicity & academic culture-- instead casteist Savarnas will make it about bogus merit discourse & make strawman arguments against reservation.

visited Ashoka University recently to talk abt 'Meet the Savarnas' Interestingly when originally invited by Savitri Ambedkar Periyar Study Circle (SAPSC), permission was "denied". Kudos to SAPSC, students & English dept faculty who rallied & made it happen! Glad to see faculty pushing back, univs need to reclaim space for critical discourse. For all it's faults, glad to see some spine from my 'favourite' Sonepat university 🫰🏽

As a kid, when my friends were not doing well in mathematics, I would feel bad and would teach them. That also made me understand the subject better myself. From childhood, I was taught to have this attitude: when you see something broken, take the responsibility to fix it, do not merely complain. If you cannot fix it, accept it but make a mental note "some day I will fix it when I can". Over the years, that becomes second nature. I take it as my personal responsibility to figure out solutions for our rural economy. No one appointed me to that role, and I have appointed myself happily 😄

I think India will never be able to produce any global-level companies like Meta, Netflix, and SpaceX. Not because the government is bad. Not because the people are not talented. Not because we don't have the capability. There is a fundamental reason why we can't do it. It is the gross negligence and complete ignorance of the Indian capitalist billionaire class. In Western society many companies spend their profits on research and development of products and scaling them to the global level. But the Indian capitalist class is only money-minded. They just want to milk 140 crore Indians by providing some commodity or service-based product and never intend to spend a dime on research purposes.

Princeton Prof Arvind Narayanan: "My best rough estimate of the fraction of the scientific literature that’s wrong — flat-out wrong, you’d-be-nuts-to-rely-on-this wrong — is 80%" Then there is a whole category of scientific literature "that is not even wrong" - useless, irrelevant would be better descriptions. Why does it happen? The massive "over capacity" in research with too many PhDs being produced, and the "market pressure" for grants and publications in the academic world. I decided I would face the "market pressure" of real business instead! As the popular Computer Science adage has it (originally from Richard Hamming, Turing Award winner): Newton may have stood on the shoulders of giants but in CS, we stand on each other's toes!
My best rough estimate of the fraction of the scientific literature that’s wrong — flat-out wrong, you’d-be-nuts-to-rely-on-this wrong — is 80%. The problem is that the normal process of scientific self-correction takes time and happens through follow-up work that fails to reproduce experiments, finds computational errors, challenges assumptions, and so on. This is a big opportunity for AI-for-science tools. Agentic interfaces to the scientific literature should be designed so that when they look up a paper they should explicitly look for later work that challenges it. A harder but potentially far more impactful intervention is to use agents to auto-annotate papers in the pre-training corpus based on what other later sources have said about them, as well as re-weighting and other tricks. Of course AI developers shouldn’t become the arbiters of scientific truth but the fact that online information is of widely varying quality is already central to LLM pretraining recipes and agentic retrieval; my point is that there are responsible ways to apply this insight to the scientific corpus as well.

If you are an engineer or scientist or doctor turning to business, the first thing I would suggest is "Please go on a lot of sales calls, face rejection if necessary, but persist". You will develop better communication skills as you realise that explaining your ideas is not so easy. You will develop respect for sales people. You may even become good at business! There is no such thing as a business without selling something. Sometimes the most obvious thing has to be said!

This is 21 year old Sanjush Lingamaneni proud owner of an Aston Martin. He drove his Aston Martin at high speed and rammed into a poor sales girl Bharati Mukhi, killing her instantly on 16th August. Sanjush’s super power? He is the son of Andhra Pradesh Jana Sena MP Lingamaneni Ramesh. Bharati Mukhi, who worked as a sales girl at Lifestyle, Inorbit took a lunch break around 3pm to go get food from the street opposite the mall, along with her friend. Ten minutes later, while she was returning, Lingamaneni Sanjush who was driving his Aston Martin at high speed rammed and killed Bharati Mukhi instantly. He tried to escape but thanks to people around, they took his video, photos and then ensured that he took Bharathi to the hospital. Unfortunately, 26 year old Bharathi was declared brought dead. The very efficient Telangana police shielded Lingamaneni Sanjush’s name till yesterday. A lot of political bigwigs got involved because Janasena is an alliance partner of TDP & BJP in Andhra Pradesh. An MP’s son’s future is more important than the life or death of a 26 year old girl who came to Hyderabad looking for “future” and better opportunities from Odisha. Till last evening, the Telangana police guarded the accused Lingamaneni Sanjush’s details. Sanjush is still NOT ARRESTED. Despite his rash driving killing Bharati Mukhi on 16th August at 3:10pm. SIX DAYS AND NO ARREST. Imagine how Hyderabad police behave when you violate a small rule? Immediate fine, immediate confiscation, cases and what not. But if you are an MP’s son in an Aston Martin, you can kill someone on the road and still walk away. If not for the videos taken by people on the road, Sanjush would have escaped long back. Even now hope for justice is absolutely bleak.

Today, we celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day in New York, in a year that also marks 250 years of American independence. The world’s largest democracy celebrating alongside the world’s oldest democracy. Together with the Consulate General of India, New York, and the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA), we wanted to mark these two milestones in a unique way and celebrate the relationship between our countries. We created "250" with American and Indian flags, setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest flagpole number. Happy Independence Day!

Before Kota, the IIT-JEE was purely elitist. Not by design, but by access. If you weren't from South Delhi or South Bombay, you didn't even know Irodov or Halliday, Resnick and Walker existed. No local teacher knew the exam's pattern. You were competing blindly against the children of professors and civil servants who had the secret playbook. Early IIT demographic data was blunt: a thin, urban, English-speaking elite. Most AIR 1 from 1960 to 1990 came from influential families. Then Kota reverse-engineered the code and sold it to the public. Daily problem sheets. Pattern drills. Standardized shortcuts. A brute-force playbook that didn't care about your surname, your school, or your spoken English. Did Kota turn test-prep into an ugly, soul-crushing factory? Absolutely. But for millions of small-town kids, that factory was the only door in the wall. The old elite complained that Kota killed the spirit of real engineering What it actually killed was their monopoly

As a Pakistani Hindu, I proudly represent the white in our national flag, My Pakistan is not only the green I salute, it is also the white I represent. The white reminds us that this land belongs to all its citizens, regardless of faith. I may worship differently, pray differently, and celebrate different festivals but my love for Pakistan is no less. I am a daughter of Pakistan. This is my homeland. This is my flag and this is my identity. I want to see a Pakistan where every colour of this flag is respected, protected, and allowed to shine with dignity. And whenever our flag flies, I hope the green reminds us of our strength, while the white reminds us of our promise. Pakistan is home to all of us. No one should have to prove that they belong.

Indians and Pakistanis are essentially the same people, divided by borders and kept divided by politicians on both sides who benefit politically—and perhaps financially—from hostility. Imagine if India and Pakistan signed a real peace treaty. Trade, tourism, investment, culture and human connections could explode. The economic upside could be enormous. So I keep wondering: who benefits from keeping us enemies?
