DeltaDB is a new, Git-compatible version control system for agent context. It keeps every edit linked to the conversation that produced it. @as__cii takes a deep dive into how we built it with Rust, SQLite, and Durable Objects: delta.dev/blog/fine-grained-…

interpretability might be the most important scientific problem in the world right now, as I don't think we can solve alignment if we don't know what we're building. I think I have good news about it. I co-authored early work in mechanistic interpretability at OpenAI and came away pessimistic, because neural networks appeared to fold into arbitrary tangled knots. years later, I started openai's first large-scale automated interpretability project, finding about 2% of neurons legible with the primitive tools we had with modern agentic tools and a much closer look, the picture looks totally different. the vast majority in models up to trillions of parameters are legible, and their circuits beautiful. many famous examples of tangled neurons turned out to be misunderstood. The roadblocks I expected mostly aren't there. I now think ambitious interpretability will be solved by the time we need it most, and possibly quite soon, as automated scientists keep improving. it may be a bitter lesson for interpretability: the simple thing, at absurd scale, works already-clean.goodfire.com/

We've wanted to build this since we founded Zed - a new collaborative development workflow without all of the limitations of pull requests. Over the past few months, our team has made the the switch, and it's been so cool.
Delta is now in public beta. It’s a multiplayer environment for coding with agents and reviewing what they build, with every code change linked to the conversation that produced it. Anyone can download it today on macOS, Linux, and Windows: delta.dev/download

I'm really glad to be working with Baseten. Their inference stack is fast and reliable, and their team is *super* smart. It's been really helpful to consult with their ML engineers while iterating on our edit prediction model.
Zed built its editor from scratch because performance is non-negotiable for a responsive IDE. When your product lives or dies by how fast it feels, inference has to be invisible. We're proud to partner with @zeddotdev as they build the editor of the future.

The Ruby ext v0.7.3 for @zeddotdev is out! This update improves DX with a new LS activation sequence: Gemfile → PATH → User gemset → Own version (see docs). Over 110k installs so far - that's incredible! Thank you all!

2.5 years into the AI craze, and I continue to firmly believe that if your company wasn’t already interesting/succeeding without AI, then doing “whatever plus AI” isn’t going to save you. For the few that seem this way (eg Cursor), I think their moat is a lot weaker than it seems. You have to play the game and the game is AI, but I don’t think it’s a defensible foundational capability. Might play out as an excellent land and grab strategy to buy you time to fill out the meat though.
