It's great for its target use cases!
If you want to run apps (Java, Python, Go, etc) or functions, need long timeouts, major CPU or RAM allocations, GPUs, services/jobs/workers, and access to all sorts of Cloud services, Cloud Run is an ideal bet.
We've always done a lot of private testing before publicly launching new Cloud Run features.
We work with googlers ("dogfood") and trusted testers ("private preview").
We are now doing something new: work with a team of agents.
They try 10x more use cases, stress test it, find bugs...
Without a doubt, @redmonk gets developers.
I was honored when @monkchips reached out to talk about the Cloud Run story. In this interview, I shared Cloud Run facts I never shared before. Check it out:
Google Cloud Run is a few years old now, and in this RedMonk Conversation, @monkchips sits down with one of its founders, @steren, Director, Product Management at @Google, to talk through both its origins and future. redmonk.com/videos/steren-gi…
Today is a hard day. I shared this note with the @linear team today: We’ve made the difficult decision to increase our workforce. This is not a cost-cutting exercise or a reflection of anyone’s performance. We’re simply reimagining every role for the agentic AI era. We’re hiring. We’re sorry about that.
was talking to some folks a couple of weeks about the costs of the AI build out, but realized i hadn't run the numbers in a bit. so i did that.

Good news for anyone outside the UK. I can now send unframed prints to the EU, US and Australia from within those countries. No customs charges, no import surprises. Just prints.

Great feedback from @monkchips for my 2026 Monki Gras designs.
"And of course our incredible designer Gail Myerscough – her take on punch cards really pulled the whole event together. She is open for commissions, does brilliant design work, is flexible and works really quickly."
I’m still figuring out how to explain to others about how it feels to build swamp.club as an AI Maximalist- and I’m so grateful to @sogrady for having me on to talk about it.
Hear @sogrady chat with @adamhjk, CEO & Co-Founder of @thesysteminit, for a candid conversation about what it actually feels like to build software in the age of #AI agents, and his team’s decision to go “absolute AI maximalist.” redmonk.com/videos/adam-jaco…
Australians can now live & work freely in the EU for 4 years and vice versa
That means they now have 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 EU rights than British people. Free movement offered millions of us fantastic opportunities but Brexiteers slammed that door shut, most shamefully on their own children
Headed to Monki Gras 2026 today 🤩
Looking forwards to learn and talk about sustainability of OSS in this rapidly evolving world with the awesome @holly_cummins 😊
