Airbus is saying the freighter fleet grows 46% by 2045, from 2,360 up to 3,460.
They reckon the industry needs 2,670 freighters in that time. 1,580 just to replace the older ones and 1,090 for growth. 1,700 of them will be conversions, not new builds.
Narrow-bodies take the biggest share at 1,140. North America wants 925, Asia-Pacific 850.
Cargo traffic is supposed to grow around 3.2% a year. That just means a long stretch of A320, A321 and A330 conversions coming through. I think that side of the work is going to stay busy for years.
