Role Player from decades past. employed Game Programmer (C/C++). Hobby Amiga programming stuff (some 68k asm). Metal Head. Skydiver. Animals are the best people
Found a cool bug accidentally.
When recruiting a shepherd who is leading sheep, the sheep come with him.
I think i'll keep that quirk. Portable food source!
Can't remember if the original did that.
Ok, revisiting Powermonger's first island.
Symbolic as I start again.
Ripped out alot of the ai/pathing logic I had and started again.
Feels better now.
Using original Farm textures, doesn't quite work. They're only 16x16. My tiles are 32x32. I'll fix that later.
I have to announce:
I've been using A.I to decompile the MoM exe, so I can learn the internals. If you have an issue with that, well, I can't help ya
Everything else I do, I do by hand
...and don't come at me for using C instead of 68k asm
This is for fun, only!
"...and so it begins"
First Master of Magic screen on the Amiga.
The title is meant to be animated (20 frames) but having some issues.
And ive forgotten how to cookie cutter blit (fucking minterns) to put the menu items
What do you think the chances are I can fit Master of Magic in 2mb of Amiga's chip memory?
"Tell him he's dreamin'"
This will be a nice challenge.
Fortunately, the game runs in 320 x 200. yay
aha! I did it.
AGA amiga (256 colours)!!!
It helps when the source bitmap is set to 8 planes. (previous post it was only set to 5 - hence only grabbing the first 32 colours)
Ok. Master of Magic on Amiga anyone?
I may have a new project I wont finish. yay
Just levelled up.
Copied a ptr to a function to another memory location. Cast that to a function pointer and called it to return a result!
Now i can save routines to disk, and load them and discard at will.
*happy sigh* Fun playing on the Amiga.
Sample of what I've been messing with.
A Task running concurrently with main.
Send messages back and forth.
When main gets a message it prints a message to the console, then replies.
When the task gets the reply it increases the colour by 1 and flashes the screen in that color
Been working on my 'learn how to make an engine in dx12' project/tute/video.
In the hope that maybe people are still interested in such things.
With everyone using A.I these days (claude or whatever) - seems redundant. Makes me sad. May have missed the window.
side by side comparison of an imported model in my intro engine and model loader.
left my engine - right 3d viewer.
You too can learn how to do it, if there's enough interest.

It's reached that point again where all the systems and subsystems are getting unwieldy and i'm just spending my time reorganizing the code to make debugging easier.
Sadly, there's still alot to debug.
But a video to keep interest. If there really is any.
