A tissue biopsy is very helpful in finding transformation to SCLC, which fundamentally changes treatment at progression in EGFR-mutant NSCLC. Tom Newsom-Davis (@tnewsomdavis) tries to rebiopsy when the result will change what he does, and repeats molecular analysis on ctDNA or tissue. First-line choice, he adds, should take into account what is available second line. We recorded the interview in Zurich during the @etop_ibcsg workshop.

Thrilled to share our work in @NatureCancer! Spotting immunotherapy toxicities still relies on slow, inconsistent chart review. Our agentic AI + human review made reviewers faster, more accurate and far more consistent, at ~2¢ a note. W/ @SashaGusevPosts @EladSharonMD @DanaFarber

Experts gathered from the United States, Europe, Asia and Australia, independently of where they come from, and time given to discussion between juniors and seniors, the audience and the speakers, industry representatives and global experts. Giannis Mountzios (@g_mountzios, @HenryDunantGR) on the Summit before his third year on its faculty: “a forum to exchange ideas, to perform brainstorming”. We spoke to him at the @etop_ibcsg ADC workshop in Zurich. Next Summit 13 November 2026, CHUV Lausanne, 10 CME credits: lungsummit.org/registration/

Survival after segmentectomy for small node-negative NSCLC rose step by step with lymph node yield in 2217 SEER patients. Among the authors is our faculty member Jean Yannis Perentes. 🔬 2217 patients with clinical N0M0 NSCLC of 30 mm or less after anatomical segmentectomy, SEER 2000 to 2022 📊 5-year OS rose from 52.5% with 0 nodes examined to 83.9% with more than 10 📊 Adjusted HR for death vs 0 nodes: 0.79, 0.55 and 0.40 across rising yield groups 📊 Consistent by age and T1 subgroup; no clear plateau on spline modelling (non-linearity p=0.27) ⚠️ Retrospective registry: higher yield may reflect better staging or surgical quality, so causation is unproven Read the trials behind wider use of segmentectomy in our article. lungsummit.org/articles/more…

@DrJNaidoo, of the @CancerCentreIre in Dublin, at the recent Swiss Oncology Summer School in Gruyères, on what makes the International @LungSummit a different kind of meeting. What she picks out is the format. Key voices in thoracic oncology, an informal and dynamic setting, and a programme built on discussion, so that a listener follows the debate and feels part of the conversation. It is small enough to stay approachable and, on her account, that authenticity of discussion is something the field craves. Attendance and the online audience have both grown with it. The International @LungSummit 2026 is on Friday 13 November in Lausanne.

The Swiss Oncology Summer School is organised independently of any pharmaceutical company, and @MdCurioni names that as the condition for two things at her own school: a free hand in the programme, and a free hand in the choice of speakers. The faculty comes from around the world with one scope, in her words, which is to teach. For the days it runs, the meeting is the students and the faculty and no one else.
