One question separates blockchain pilots from production: who do you sue when it breaks? Every bank pilot succeeds on technology. Then governance review asks for a liability framework, a counterparty structure, and regulatory precedent. Blockchain has none of these natively. It was designed to eliminate the intermediaries that provide them. $27 billion tokenized on-chain. Nasdaq and NYSE targeting tokenized equities by 2027. The governance gap is now the single biggest bottleneck in institutional blockchain adoption. If you're evaluating tokenization plays, ask about governance frameworks before you ask about technology. Who's closest to solving this? richturrin.substack.com/p/ba… #fintech #tech #finserv #AI @BetaMoroney @efipm @BrettKing @spirosmargaris @jasuja @enricomolinari @mikeflache

What happens when every machine, AI agent and autonomous system can act, transact and make decisions but we still cannot reliably prove who or what is behind it? We are entering an economy of billions of AI agents. NVIDIA OpenShell and the wider shift toward agentic infrastructure show how quickly machines are moving from passive tools to active participants across business, finance, industry and public systems. But autonomy without identity creates a new systemic risk. Every agent increasingly needs a way to prove its identity, permissions, provenance, accountability and level of trust. In the same way humans need passports to move across borders, machines will need digital identity layers to operate safely across the emerging agent economy. This is why I argue that the next AI infrastructure layer will not just be about models, compute and orchestration. It will be about trust, verification and machine identity. A team of Gemini 4 Argon agents beats Minecraft arxiv.org/abs/2610.22319v1 👉@maxencefaldor, Satinder Singh, @robertarail via @arxiv @GoogleDeepMind 👉 Researchers from Google DeepMind demonstrated the first end-to-end autonomous completion of Minecraft by placing four general-purpose Gemini 4 Argon coding agents into a random survival world with the sole instruction to defeat the Ender Dragon. 👉 Operating with no pre-assigned roles or human-written game logic, the agents controlled their players via a standard JavaScript library, writing 2,783 custom programs and coordinating via in-game chat to overcome 605 in-game deaths and complete the objective in just over 27 hours. 💡 By forcing general-purpose models to independently sustain a singular, highly complex operational plan across thousands of dependent programmatic steps, this research transitions AI benchmarks from short-horizon reasoning tests to a true simulation of long-horizon enterprise engineering. @Corix_JC @TheAIObserverX @maponi @JagersbergKnut @ahier @ChuckDBrooks @Shi4Tech @CEO_AISOMA @sallyeaves @ThEiLe0 @rvp @dinisguarda @TarakRindani @FrRonconii @Ym78200 @Nicochan33 @Khulood_Almani @TysonLester @SusanHayes_ @EstelaMandela @JoannMoretti @sulefati7 @FernandaKellner @pchamard @NeiraOsci @darioandriani @ALouiseLavalett @Fabriziobustama @amalmerzouk @arlenenewbigg @mikeflache @RLDI_Lamy @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @PVynckier @chidambara09 @sminaev2015 @Analytics_699 @NathaliaLeHen @MHcommunicate @DanielleLargier

Solving a theoretical problem is one thing. Establishing that the solution holds up in the real world is another. AI can accelerate discovery, but verifying results, reproducing them, and building on them is what makes scientific progress possible. wired.com/story/ai-is-coming…

This paper changed my life: A first glimpse into the ‘middle’ of brain processing thetransmitter.org/this-pape… ✍️ @MillerLabMIT via @_TheTransmitter 👉 MIT neuroscientist Earl K. Miller reflects on a seminal 1985 study by Jeffrey Moran and Robert Desimone which proved that monkeys could focus cognitive attention on different visual stimuli without physically moving their gaze. 👉 This ground-breaking discovery demonstrated that top-down, goal-directed feedback actively modulates how sensory neurons process identical physical inputs, marking a foundational milestone that helped launch the modern field of systems and cognitive neuroscience. 💡 By highlighting a study where the brain's internal focus overrode raw sensory data, Miller illustrates that true intelligence has always been an active act of top-down filtration rather than passive information absorption. @Corix_JC @TheAIObserverX @maponi @JagersbergKnut @ahier @ChuckDBrooks @Shi4Tech @CEO_AISOMA @sallyeaves @ThEiLe0 @rvp @dinisguarda @TarakRindani @FrRonconii @Ym78200 @Nicochan33 @Khulood_Almani @TysonLester @SusanHayes_ @EstelaMandela @JoannMoretti @sulefati7 @FernandaKellner @pchamard @NeiraOsci @darioandriani @ALouiseLavalett @Fabriziobustama @amalmerzouk @arlenenewbigg @mikeflache @RLDI_Lamy @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @PVynckier @chidambara09 @sminaev2015 @Analytics_699 @NathaliaLeHen @MHcommunicate @DanielleLargier

Are the first major AI agent security failures already warning us about what comes next? Google DeepMind's @demishassabis has described recent AI-related hacking incidents as early warning signs of potentially more serious problems as autonomous systems become increasingly capable. His warning raises an important question about the direction of artificial intelligence. We are building systems that can reason, write code, access networks, execute workflows and interact with other machines. But are we developing the security infrastructure needed to govern them at the same speed? The next generation of AI will not operate only inside conversational interfaces. It will increasingly operate across enterprise networks, banking infrastructure, healthcare systems, government services and critical industries. And when AI moves from recommending actions to executing them, mistakes become operational risks. This is why AI governance cannot remain a theoretical discussion. We need verifiable identities, enforceable permissions, continuous monitoring, auditable decisions and the ability for humans to intervene. The future of AI safety must be built into the systems themselves, not added after something goes wrong. An increasingly autonomous AI economy requires an equally sophisticated infrastructure of trust. investing.com/news/stock-mar… We'll also explore these challenges in Friday's live webinar on NVIDIA OpenShell and autonomous AI agents. #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #GoogleDeepMind #DemisHassabis #AgenticAI #AIAgents #Cybersecurity #AISafety #AIGovernance #FutureOfAI CC @enilev @JagersbergKnut @TysonLester @CurieuxExplorer @GlenGilmore @FrRonconii @chidambara09 @jeancayeux @mvollmer1 @Nicochan33 @RLDI_Lamy @pchamard @mikeflache @Fabriziobustama @EchoofLight11 @Mack1510019 @ipfconline1 @PawlowskiMario @drsharwood @kalydeoo @baski_LA @AnthonyRochand @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @andresvilarino @gvalan @AI_4_Healthcare @bimedotcom @arlenenewbigg @NewsNeus @domingonarvaez1 @bamitav @jornalistavitor @jblefevre60 @FmFrancoise @MHcommunicate @Corix_JC @c4trends @smoothsale @amalmerzouk @PVynckier @bbailey39 @ralf_ladner @mary_gambara

Special Edition: Deposit Tokens vs. Stablecoins. BNY built a platform connecting nearly 100 real-time payment rails, deposit tokens, and stablecoins through a single bank interface. Clients get 24/7 programmable money without touching a crypto exchange. JPMorgan, Citi, and roughly 20 other banks are building the same thing. Here's the twist: banks aren't killing stablecoins. They're absorbing them. Stablecoins become a feature inside bank platforms, not a competing system. When deposit tokens and stablecoins sit on the same rails, who needs a standalone stablecoin company? richturrin.substack.com/p/sp… #fintech #tech #finserv #AI @BetaMoroney @efipm @BrettKing @spirosmargaris @jasuja @enricomolinari @mikeflache

Agentic Economies for Autonomous Scientific Discovery arxiv.org/abs/2609.31562v1 ✍️ @weballergy @FranklinMatija @Dr_Atoosa @sebkrier et al. via @arxiv @GoogleDeepMind 👉 The authors argue that while AI excels at rapidly generating cheap scientific hypotheses, discovery remains bottlenecked by scarce, expensive physical resources like lab equipment and clinical trials. 👉 They propose an architectural framework for "scientific agent economies," using formal market designs and decentralised credit assignment to let mixed networks of human researchers and autonomous AI agents efficiently trade and allocate restricted resources. 💡 By shifting the "AI for Science" conversation from cognitive capability to market design, DeepMind exposes a critical flaw in current acceleration narratives: a model that can ideate a thousand brilliant drug compounds before lunch is practically useless if the physical lab bench still takes six months to test just three of them. 💡 By viewing scientific constraints through an economic lens, the authors provide a vital blueprint for a structured, multi-agent sandbox that forces software systems to respect physical scarcity and accountability before their sheer generative volume triggers an institutional denial-of-service attack on real-world labs. @Corix_JC @TheAIObserverX @maponi @JagersbergKnut @ahier @ChuckDBrooks @Shi4Tech @CEO_AISOMA @sallyeaves @ThEiLe0 @rvp @dinisguarda @TarakRindani @FrRonconii @Ym78200 @Nicochan33 @Khulood_Almani @TysonLester @SusanHayes_ @EstelaMandela @JoannMoretti @sulefati7 @FernandaKellner @pchamard @NeiraOsci @darioandriani @ALouiseLavalett @Fabriziobustama @amalmerzouk @arlenenewbigg @mikeflache @RLDI_Lamy @smaksked @Eli_Krumova @PVynckier @chidambara09 @sminaev2015 @Analytics_699 @NathaliaLeHen @MHcommunicate @DanielleLargier

geoffrey hinton mass-quit google in 2023 and mass-told everyone he was scared of what he built. nobody asked the right question. not "is AI dangerous." the right question is "why does backpropagation work at all." hinton couldn't answer it. neither could lecun. neither could sutskever when he left openai. the three founders of deep learning built a $4.6 trillion industry on an algorithm none of them could mathematically prove should work. until last month. a physicist at ETH zurich published a 41-page proof that backpropagation is a special case of the second law of thermodynamics. not an analogy. a derivation. the math: thermodynamics: dS/dt ≥ 0. entropy of a closed system never decreases. backpropagation: dL/dt ≤ 0. loss of a trained network never increases. one is entropy going up. the other is loss going down. they are the same equation with a sign flip. the proof shows that gradient descent on a neural network is mathematically identical to a physical system falling toward thermal equilibrium. every weight update is a molecule finding its lowest energy state. this is why transformers scale. this is why chinchilla scaling laws look like thermodynamic equations. this is why nobody could prove convergence guarantees - they were using the wrong field. the answer was never in computer science. it was in statistical mechanics. now watch what this means for the frontier labs [Fig. 1] - openai trained GPT-4 at an estimated mass-energy cost of 50,000 MWh. anthropic trained claude 3.5 at approximately 31,000 MWh. google trained gemini ultra at over 60,000 MWh. the ETH proof predicts a theoretical minimum energy for each model's capability level. the equation: E_min = kT × N × ln(1/ε) k = boltzmann constant. T = operating temperature. N = parameters. ε = target loss. GPT-4's actual energy usage: 17x above the theoretical minimum. claude: 12x above minimum. gemini: 23x above minimum. anthropic is closest to the thermodynamic floor. not by accident. dario amodei has 3 physicists on the training infrastructure team. openai has zero. the companies that understand this equation will compress 3 years of scaling into 6 months. the companies that don't will spend $10 billion on training runs that a physicist could tell them are 20x less efficient than possible. hinton understood the gradient. he never understood the entropy. the network doesn't learn. it cools. save this
Community note
The specific 41-page proof by an ETH Zurich physicist published last month does not exist. A 2025 paper explores how backpropagation emerges in physical models of neural networks: arxiv.org/abs/2503.09980 Training energy claims and the exact equivalence described are not supported by it
