“Workplace violence”
Families of the 2009 Fort Hood victims sued the government for $750M over officials ignoring Nidal Hasan’s radicalization.
A federal judge tossed the case against top officials, saying the court lacked jurisdiction/the families didn’t properly name the U.S. as a defendant and skipped required steps with the Army and FBI.

The more devout Nidal Hasan became in Islam, the more dangerous he got.
After his mother died in 2001 he turned hard into piety and sat under Anwar al-Awlaki at Dar al-Hijrah in Virginia. Awlaki was the American-born cleric who preached to some of the 9/11 hijackers, later joined al-Qaeda in Yemen, and spent years telling English-speaking Muslims that killing U.S. soldiers was a duty.
At Walter Reed, Hasan told supervisors he could not fight other Muslims, then gave Army doctors a PowerPoint arguing sharia beats the Constitution and suicide bombers are martyrs.
From December 2008 to June 2009 he emailed Awlaki asking when jihad is allowed and whether killing soldiers, and the civilians next to them, was fine. The FBI had the emails. They closed the file as “research.”
Then on November 5, 2009, Nidal Hasan opened fire at Fort Hood screaming “Allahu Akbar,” killing 13 and wounding 30. The Obama administration called it workplace violence.
Stricter religion did not make him peaceful.
It gave him permission.
